Loved her previous albums but I'm finding this one a bit of a drudge - its hard to determine when one track ends and another starts and its just miserable listening to it BORING

Morrison's opening single The Only Night is an unusually upbeat pop record for the album, setting the mood for a mixed bag of gems that throw you a variety of moods from happiness to sorrow.
The next two singles, Save Yourself and You Make It Real have James Morrison written all over them.. in a good way. There's a part of me that feels You Make It Real's chorus resembles a more down beat version Simply Red's stars, if only for a second or two. You Make It Real still manages to be an utterly original and sensual melody, paving the way for a variety of even more appealing single releases.
The dramatic, melancholy collaboration with Nelly Furtado might remind you of Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright's brilliant Set The ... Read More:

I kind of trusted on the reviews.Ok there are some great songs on it,the classic but also a lot of rubbish.A great number of songs (even some famous ones) sound like they were recorded with electronic music.
I'm going to look for a cd with maybe less songs but more quality.

This album is rubbish!! It's a shame I have to give it even one star.
There's not one reference to snow, paper, colombian marching powder or anything else white including Xmas!!!
Nope, it's all over the show, no structure to the album at all, songs all jumbled up. I think The Beatles must have still been on drugs when they put this album together. Oh Bla Di, Oh Bla Da????? Oh Bloody Hell more like.
Brian Epstein died just before this album was released, and personally, I think he had some insider knowledge as to how this album sounded. This album also coincides with Oh-no making an appearance. Something which must have put them all off their stride, judging by the sounds of it!!

What an absolutely magnificent release this is.From the soulful, upbeat strut of the opener "You Are The Best Thing" all the way to the hushed beauty of the title track which closes proceedings , Ray and his cohorts simply never put a foot wrong. It is ,i believe, a modern classic and a firm contender for Album Of The Year .
I came to this release with no knowledge of this guy's previous work , i'd heard his name and read about him but never got around to checking out his music. I cannot therefore tell you how this new work compares to previous releases , what i can tell you , without doubt , is that this is a CD i've been playing constantly for the past 3 or 4 weeks now and i've never got bored yet , in fact it just seems to get better every time i play the damn ... All the 29 (so far) 1 star reviews are not reviews of the music but of the marketing of the 3CD version. Amongst them are some very angry long standing Dylan fans who refuse to even buy any of the versions, not merely the over priced deluxe version. Well, thats their loss.
I started listening to Dylan as a teenager in the early 60's and have always felt that the first three albums from the electric period were the peak of an amazing career. This new collection is another wonderful peak that has enabled me to revisit the period they cover and add to my appreciation of his later career. I have not yet found a song to better my personal Dylan favourite 'Desolation Row' but there are several that come close after a few weeks of listening and the collection only adds ... Read More:

I first heard Gabriella Cilmi when i saw her supporting the Sugababes live and afterwards i went straight out and bought the album and it was excellent. I also saw her on her own tour and she was amazing again. She's a great new talent and deserves to become very very successful especially when you see some of these over-rated singers like Amy (attention seeker) Winehouse and Leona "Yes i can sing but my songs are so dull" Lewis doing well. I bought this special edition even though i already had the original version for the new songs including her cover of Cry Me A River which is better than the original. It's a pity Save The Lies didn't do as well as Sweet About Me when released as a single as i thought it was a classic but this album is loaded with great songs like Don't Wanna ... Read More:

I can respect Robert Plant for his work with Led Zeppelin (nearly 40 years ago) and Alison Krauss is a major talent with the Union Station but this just does not work. The production by T Bone Burnett is good but the material is poor and boring. It neither one thing (Rock) nor another (Country/Bluegrass). Having read the reviews beforehand I borrowed this CD from my library prepared for a probable disappointment and it certainly lived up to that.
