I first saw / heard Seasick Steve (Steve Wold) on Jools Holland's 'Later' TV show on the BBC a couple of years ago. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when he appeared on my TV screen. He looked more like a busker than a star in the making, but by the time he had finished his song, I was a fan, along with thousands of others who saw him that night. In short, he blew us all away. He was on the show again recently in order to publicise this new album and guess what, he blew us away again! The star performer.
This album is probably the result of Steve's first appearance on Jools' show and it would seem that Mr Holland has to some degree provided a guiding hand or least support, in it's making...the presence of Ruby Turner (A regular ... Read More:

Like others, I saw the man on Jools Holland. I suppose the romantic in me loved the idea that this guy had experienced the lowest of the lows but had come through it all and was here playing his 3-string geetar live on the JH show. However, I liked what I heard and his enthusiasm for the blues was infectious. Okay, it's not as polished as the great blues musicians and he's not going to outdo Robert Cray for technical ability but just listen to the stories he tells and you'll be tapping your foot along. We all love to see people do well that have faced grim adversity and Seasick Steve provides a soulful, bizarre and honest approach to his version of the blues. So, stop being so cynical and give it a blast.

I'm not from the US, my family hail from Kashmir and I was born in the UK, grew up listening to punk rock but WOW! The soundtrack literally drips with the era and place it hails from; every time I hear a snippet I swear I can feel the heat and smell the wheat - so amazing!
I put this into the cd player hoping to be blown away by some seriously good blues/rock but....well, 6 plays later, I'm still waiting. Maybe it's too American for my taste but if you want good blues/rock music tune into Paul Rodgers, Free, Ian Siegal etc.
Joe Bonamassa can certainly play (apparently he opened for BB King when he was 12!) but I couldn't discern any connection with the noise coming out of the speakers.

Ry Cooder is one of the most wonderful guitarists on the planet.Anyone looking to play guitar should listen to him, because when it comes to tone,to texture and beautiful playing he's among the very best there is.The rave over Stevie Ray's,Hendrix,et all as great as they are no question of that RC is a master of his art. This anthology has a wonderful range of varying styles from a whole range of his albums right upto his 2008 release I Flathead, and it's all fabulous stuff,no fillers here at all.listen to the texture in his film scores like Paris Texas,or his take on Johnny Cash's Get Rhythm to the wonderful unreleased track Let's Get Together. You get 34 tracks for your money, all put together by his son Joachim, plus notes by the man himself. This is surely among the ... Before buying this album, I was familiar with the 'big' songs from it, however after a few listens i have come to appreciate the true raw talent behind it; suffice to say im very happy with the purchase!! the case was delivered with a crack however, which is not the first time from Amazon to me.

If you like Moore, then here is the latest to add to your collection. It's pretty formula stuff - great blues rock - some boogie, some a bit heavier, and of course wonderful long ballards with superb guitar wizardy, delivered only how Moore can.
I won't go through track for track, because if your a fan you will get the drift, this is simply more and more of what Gary does best. A couple of noticeable mentions though. How about the 10 minute long "I Love You More Than You'll ever Know" epic? Sheer class over and over again, and "Mojo Boogie" whioch is foot tapping stonkingly good and subtle tones of Quo! Another track has some welcome female backing vocals, which adds some extra to the album.
All in all another Moore classic if you like his stuff ... Read More:

Look folks I was going to buy this out of pure nostalgia anyway - but I have to tell you this is just about as good as it gets - definitely his best ever studio recording. The voice is as good as ever, and no one ever ever could get the same sounds out of a guitar as he gets out of "Lucille". Every track a winner and what a band - featuring the incomparable Dr John on piano. The production is faultless. If you have any affection for the blues you simply have to buy this. Without question a 5 star item.

How highly do I rate Peter Green(baum)? Well put it this way, at his peak he was at least as good as anyone that has EVER picked up an axe, plus he had the ability to write songs that still sound amazing thirty years later. So how good is this as a testament to his lost talent? Well, about as good as it could be given his early crack-up and losing his "magic stick." Tragedy really. A far bigger loss than Syd Barrett was to the Pink Floyd.
Here we have classics and filler in equal numbers. To be frank the blues pastiche (not all written by Green) was ho-hum at the time and is skip material here. The sixties recording time was shorter and there are even a few bum notes that should not be there.
However the genius of Albatross (who but a genius could make a ... Read More:
