Like many Putumayo compilations, the tracks here are a well-chosen collection of top-quality material from local artists. However, with all of Latin America to choose from, the Putumayo people have outdone themselves this time. Every track is a superb piece of atmospheric down-tempo pop with a rich Latin flavour. It's one of the very few albums I can't imagine every getting sick of - perfect as background music and also well worthy of more attentive listening. If you like modern Latin music and only ever buy one Putumayo compilation (and I've bought lots) get this.

This, I assume, is a sister album to Eno and Fripp's 'Evening Star',and a continuation of their collaboration begun on 1975's 'No Pussyfooting'. In my opinion,we have two of music's most gifted and original people here, and an album with the two of them is always going to be interesting. This doesn't disappoint, lovely ambient textures with Fripp's amazing sounding guitar seemingly endlessly sustained over the top, modulating weirdly from time to time, but always hypnotic. Percussion and rhythm do creep into the music a little later in the album, but generally it is a mellow affair, perfect for chilling out with a loved one or what you will. If you like either of these guys, or ambient sounds ... Read More:

an incredible package with lots of information and some brillaint early electronic music examples and studies.
If you have tons of money and have been into electronic music from the very start their are probably still going to be suprises here for you!
This package is an incredle purchase even simply as a refernce product. Their are people here that i hear and definatly am going to learn more about and study. People like Tod Dockstader of whom i probably would have not come across without this guide for instance
a huge recommendation to anyone with an ear towards the avant garde.

Just got this album and listening to it on headphones being blown away. Unlike most guitarists, Aarset is capable of making a record that doesn't sound like a 'guitar' record. Unlike most nu-jazz, it's original and authentic, managing to combine the excitement of electronic music with the musical sensibility of a jazz record. Really pleased to finally find something like this!

I use this CD with a class of five and six year olds and it immediately relaxes and calms them They often ask for the music to be on as they say they can work better. They talk very quietly with their neigbour or not at all,the children are focussed on the task in hand and written work is completed more efficiently and accurately then without the music. TAs are amazed by the result. I would definately recommend this CD to teachers and parents.

This is an essential collection of the most exciting new music to be found anywhere on Earth - something you should twig as soon as you realise that the 34 tracks have been selected by regular OMM contributor - and celebrated author and broadcaster - Charlie Gillett. Not merely selected, but also sequenced, so that the sexy menace of the Touareg group Tinariwen sets up the dramatic posturing of Pietra Montecorvino, and she in turn gives way to the whispering charms of Carla Bruni before the ecstatic Souad Massi takes over, and so on. It's a trip certain to lift your spirits and open your ears.

Angugama uses the didgeridoo and a drum beat, along with the sounds of nature, and synchronization with certain brain wave patterns, to clear the emotions and help focus the mind and heart on these beautiful sounds. It certainly works for me. The music is peaceful and meditative. It surely heals one from the stresses and tensions of daily life ... they seem to melt away ... or at least are viewed from a different, more clear perspective and feeling when the music is played and for a long time afterwards.
The liner notes provide some fascinating information how the "Spiritual Environments" recordings of which this is one ... create a healing effect with the sounds of nature and sacred mantras. Here is a summary: 1) the binaural beat helps produce ... Read More:

This is so beautiful and peaceful, relaxing. As an artist I am always searching for music to assist the flow of creative energy and this is a most played favourite(along with shamanic dream vol 1). This music really helps to connect you to higher states of awareness, dreamtime. Highly recommended.
