I've been an Enya fan for twenty years and the thing that you can never mistake is the unique "Enya" sound and the wonderful calming effect it can give the listener. Her music has got me through some very stressful times in my life.
Although a winter and Christmas themed album I truly feel this can be played at any time of year and would still sound great. Having said that, this album really does capture the feeling of frost and snow-covered fir trees etc.
The tracks are varied with a nice selection of soft slow tracks along with the more up tempo ones. Of the latter ones, I challenge anyone not to have "Trains and Winter Rains" going around in their head for days! For me, one of the most beautiful tracks has to ... Read More:
There is no progression in her selection or style. She is just a singer of songs and after six albums of the same thing words like staid, formula and predictable come easily to mind.
This album is a setp backwards and the most deflating of the lot...a re-affirmnent of formula over progression. Maybe the change of record label may stir something but as it stands she will be successful, talented, rich and very dull. Surely dull is the most damning criticism that can be levelled at an artist.
Another great album from The Divine Miss M. Any true fan would be a fool to miss out on this classic collection of songs from the amazing career of Bette Midler. Songs dating back from her debut album to her more recent projects that will get you toe-tapping and singing along!
So go on and support Bette by buying this album - you will not regret it!

Hhhmmm - a few negative reviews because this is 1) not completely Christian music or 2) moves away from the tradition of Salvation Army bands and band music or 3) not up to the standard of Army bands and the Staff band specifically.
I'm afraid I can't agree - this is excellent and exactly what the Army should be doing, reaching out to people with something a bit more accessible. Reaching out and providing help and support is the heritage of the Army, after all "Heart to God and hand to man".
Over the last few years the Army and the work it does has become less and less visible, to the point where most people under 30 have no idea who or what the Salvation Army is. As a result this CD is just the sort of marketing the Army needs ... Read More:

I bought this album today and its the best album I have heard in a very long time.
Russell Watson always comes across as such a lovely man and has had the most traumatic time of late but oh my god his voice is just amazing and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate what he has overcome.
I had always associated Russell with opera and it was only after seeing him on a couple of tv appearances singing some of the songs from this album that I had this tingling sensation and thought I needed to hear more....I am so glad I did.
The songs are great and his voice is breathtaking. You will really want to get up and join in and sing along with him to songs such as 'Heaven help us all' and Try a little tenderness' but at the ... Read More:

This is an outstanding album that finds Bocelli in wonderful voice. There's not a bad track here, with the emphasis on the great Neapolitan canzones. If one discounts Caruso as THE singer of such songs as a native of Naples, they have seldom been sung better. The song selection is excellent, with every one having a high "hummability" factor.
Bocelli appears to be a tenor at the height of his powers. The ending to Funiculi Funicula is breathtaking but a mere precursor to brilliance with the extraordinary D flat that ends Because. The latter is far from a "lounge" song as the Amazon review suggests, having been done by any tenor with his salt from Caruso through Gigli, Lanza and Domingo. I've not yet heard anyone take the final note with such gusto and Bocelli should ... Read More:

I have bought all of John Barroman's cd's and this one carries on the tradition of great music made to sound fantastic. I can't wait for his tour next year. Already booked my ticket (may even go to more than one event). Great music. Cant wait for the next album.

I'm playing this all the time now and finding new things with each play. Be careful not to miss the brilliant hidden track "Take Me Back To The Party" as I did first time - it's maybe my favourite track and puts the other songs in a different context once you've heard it.
Bono and The Edge wrote the song "Sugar Daddy" for Tom and it should be mentioned that they play on the track too.
As with Tom's previous CD "Tom Jones and Jools Holland" there's not a duff track to be heard on this album but favourites are the earth shattering "I'm Alive", funk saturated "Take Me Back To The Party" and "Seen That Face".
