This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.
There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.
The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.
It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.
This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.

Ry Cooder is one of the most wonderful guitarists on the planet.Anyone looking to play guitar should listen to him, because when it comes to tone,to texture and beautiful playing he's among the very best there is.The rave over Stevie Ray's,Hendrix,et all as great as they are no question of that RC is a master of his art. This anthology has a wonderful range of varying styles from a whole range of his albums right upto his 2008 release I Flathead, and it's all fabulous stuff,no fillers here at all.listen to the texture in his film scores like Paris Texas,or his take on Johnny Cash's Get Rhythm to the wonderful unreleased track Let's Get Together. You get 34 tracks for your money, all put together by his son Joachim, plus notes by the man himself. This is surely ... Was wondering what to buy recently when I saw a review of this album and an interview with the singer in a sunday magazine.Turns out that this is a brilliant album, and has traces of blues, gospel, pop, country, and a touch of the brilliant Karen Carpenter about it.
Stand-out tracks for me include the intense deep gospel of Nobody's Fault But Mine and One Cloud, and the lighter yet still uplifting pop of So Sublime and i Shall Be Released.
A varied collection then in some ways, yet with a pleasing undercurrent of blues running throughout the whole album to string it all together and give it a sense of identity.
Really uplifting and at times extremely powerful! For once the hype may be justified!

I liked this album a lot. It starts off strong and gets better through to the two songs at the end, which for me were the highlights. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful music, beautifully produced. A melancholy album pretty much through and through I felt, and that would be my only criticism. Nothing pacey and upbeat to help mix it up a bit. Four stars from me.

This album is, despite only being a year old, classic Eagles, and one of their best. It was worth the wait, as although it's polished and sounds perfect, it is full of raw, real emotions, and every line is delivered with that feeling as a driving force.
I was also impressed they kept the momentum going with two discs, 21 tracks in fact, of consistently beautiful music, each song speaking directly to me as a listener and making me believe everything they're singing.
This is also a brilliant showcase of the different genres covered, from pure heartbreak as we can hear in I Don't Want To Hear Any More, to catchy, commercial almost pop sounds in How Long, to folkier music in No More Walks In The Wood, and a few others in between.

If you want to try the music of Neil Young then this is a good one to start with but beware, being a Neil Young fan is addictive and expensive although its also very rewarding. With over 30 solo albums to his name, plus being a part of Crosby, Nash, Stills and Young and Buffalo Springfield too, you've stumbled across one of the most prolific and brilliant singer-songwriters ever to grace our wonderful planet.
Released in 1970, this was Young's third solo album and the most succesful until the release of Harvest two years later. Many people class this as his best piece of work and its certainly his most complete studio album in my opinion.
The album went multi Platinum in the states and has appeared on a number of "greatest albums of all time" ... Read More:

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary, the Turtles, the Byrds and Johnny Cash.
And commercially electric Dylan was just right.
This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan. If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began.
My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window.
Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book.
Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

Listening to Sandy Denny's voice makes you realise how much the music industry short-changes us these days. Sublime and unaffected, young yet embedded with wisdom, it sweeps you away like none of today's wannabes ever will. 'Sandy' also benefits from first class arrangements, production and musicianship, with Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick adding valuable guitar and violin respectively. Sneaky Pete contributes some of his best pedal steel playing too, lending a country tinge to some of the tracks. By and large, this is folk at the edge of rock. 'It'll Take A Long Time' is an expansive, epic opening, while Denny's take on 'Tomorrow Is A Long Time' is one of the best Dylan covers you'll hear.
There are many breathtaking passages, such as the multi-tracked vocal on 'Quiet Joys ... Read More:
