Final Straw

This CD is excellent! I think it is the best Snow Patrol so far, and I really like Snow Patrol. Every song is a winner! I am absolutely addicted to this CD--I have to listen to it everyday.

Like real Stars that burn out, or implode. i was hoping that Snow Patrol would not be one of these. Apart from a few goods songs, i never quite see the point of Snow Patrol, giving rather plain songs. This album is no expection and is imensely plain. One of the greatest sadness, is that in bedsits around the world there are people writting better songs and lyrics than these, but of course, those people are totally annonomous, and may never to be found by record companies.
Track 1 & 2 are commercial and ok, but actucally, surprisingly, right at the end the three songs, merging into one lasting over 14 minutes for me, appeare to be the real talent of Snow Patrol and offers a glimpse into where they should push themselves.These three songs are ... Read More:

Songs for Polarbears

This is in my opinion the best Snow Patrol album. It needs about 2 or 3 listens to grow on you, then you will appreciate the beauty of these 14 simple songs. They are often built around simple guitaring, such as the quiter but brilliant velocity girl and 15 minutes old. NYC only has 3 lines and is very repetitive but stands out as one of the best tracks. the more upbeat Downhill from here, Starfighter pilot, Little hide and 100 things you should have done in bed are also great catchy tunes. All in all this is a must buy for Snow Patrol fans.

When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up

This is in my opinion the best Snow Patrol album. It needs about 2 or 3 listens to grow on you, then you will appreciate the beauty of these 14 simple songs. They are often built around simple guitaring, such as the quiter but brilliant velocity girl and 15 minutes old. NYC only has 3 lines and is very repetitive but stands out as one of the best tracks. the more upbeat Downhill from here, Starfighter pilot, Little hide and 100 things you should have done in bed are also great catchy tunes. All in all this is a must buy for Snow Patrol fans.

When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up

Like many of the other this albim's other reviewers I was initailly disappointed by this album but after giving it a little time came to appreciate it greatly. It seems that the main problem with this collection of songs is that they have either not been recorded or produced very well and in many instances you have to strain your ears to catch Gary Lightbody's lyrics. Often a catchy bassline is only almost discernable and the whole thing lacks a clarity of sound.

However for all this the basslines ARE catchy and Lightbody's Lyrics ARE worth straining for. You can just imagine that if the band had recorded some of these songs recently that they could easily be anthems as potent as 'Run' or 'Signal Fire'.

Songs for Polarbears: Expanded Edition

Snow Patrol, when they were raw.
Granted they hadn't been together too long before they released this, but damn it's good!
If you're looking for a more hard edge, less "neat", more raggedy Snow Patrol with a few less of those slow anthemic songs-than look no further.
Personal favourites include: Starfighter Pilot, and Raze the City.
Go for it, you won't regret it.

I first heard 'Run' on Monday the 22nd of January 2007. It was used as the background music for the very end of a BBC1 afternoon play. Oh! my goodness, what a fabulously fitting work of musical art in that part of the show. I did not have a clue what the song was called or who was singing it. But I just had to have it! I searched the web throughout the evening - using scant parts of the lyrics with which to search. Today, I am now playing the CD song on my PC -I cannot turn it off. I must admit that I think that the third track is better listening choice than the second, and the CDROM video of 'Run' is worth viewing. This is such a beautiful and emmotive, spine tingling song.
