The Platinum Collection: Greatest Hits I, II & III

I have just got the box set recently, and have been enjoying it greatly. Not just that, my three daughters aged 9, 6 and 2 are great fans, and want to listen to it all the time in the car. And the two-year-old even says 'Rock' once she hears the first few bars of 'We will rock you'. Just goes on to show that Queen truly made ageless music, which still scores far above most contemporary music.

The Cosmos Rocks

It is very difficult to approach this album with anything close to objectivity. I have been a big Queen fan for close to twenty years now and, in my opinion, Queen without Freddie just wasn't an option and, after Brian, Roger & John dismissed rumour after rumour of replacing him with a plethora of different front men, I thought that Queen had all but been laid to rest. Then, of course, I heard that they were touring with Paul Rodgers on vocals and, to be honest, I was slightly nonplussed and had no interest in going to see them live. However, when news came of a new studio album with brand new songs - well, now I was interested. Queen are the most overrated band ever. This collection does contain the odd decent song but most songs here are trivial, soul-less, hollow and very very empty. The world's most pointless band!

The Singles Collection [Box Set]

It has been now 17 years since Freddie's death and we still haven't had a Queen Box Set of Rarities etc. like the Freddie Mercury one. Now they are releasing singles box sets, why? Most fans have all these songs either on the studio albums or various Greatest Hits packages (Ok except See What A Fool I've Been on certain countries albums). Queen fan completists will buy this album, but I certainly will not. Yes great songs this set but its really an expensive Greatest Hits 1 type package with the singles b sides and you can pick up the albums on the net quite cheaply if you look around. C'mon Queen Productions give us a decent release, not rehashing of old stuff

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. The last album featuring the revolving door policy of old, the QOTSA group on this album features Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and most notably, with the Foo Fighters in disarray, Dave Grohl making a welcome return to drums.

Songs For The Deaf finds Homme streamlining the sexy yet doom-laden groove of the previous two albums into something almost perfect. love this album freddie mercury what a voice one of the best rock singer ever buy this you wont regret it a deserveing addition to any collection aswell as darkside of the moon ,the wall by pink floyd or led zeppelin 4 symbols album buy it also recommend sheer heart attack,innuendo,made in heaven,a day at the races happy listening!!

Era Vulgaris

As the title of this review says this album is awful. The best song by a long way is Sick, Sick, Sick which I first heard them perform live on the TV and thought, "Well hopefully things will get better". QOTSA are all about the tunes and heavy tunes at that.

This album is missing something and that something is Nick Oliveri. The bass is non-existent. Yuck this is just terrible.

I loved all their previous albums, I love the Desert Sessions, I loved Kyuss. What has gone wrong? I hate this album and all QOTSA have become: bloated crap.

Don't buy this! Buy any of their other albums! If you have all their other albums still don't buy it! Spend your money on some Nebula or Fu Manchu or put it in the bank.

this is a classic i cant believe it wasant no 1 in the charts like a night at the opera obviously bohemian rhapsody got them recognised and killer queen was the breakthrough well buy this its fab!!

Greatest Hits Vol.2

There comes a time in the career of every great group when less is decidedly more and they are better off resting on their laurels and not risking their reputations. Alas, this was advice Queen chose not to heed... which suggests to me that the sad demise of Freddie Mercury may have saved them from further decline. Yes, sacrilege I know but maybe a touch of truth? You decide...

It's not that this collection is abysmal. Worse than that, it's just ordinary, the sort of compilation you damn with faint praise. In the hands of an ordinary combo it would probably be quite acceptable MoR pop/rock, but from Queen it's an inevitable decline from the dizzy heights their finest music. A Day at the Races

The highly anticipated follow-up to A Night At The Opera arrived on the shelves in late '76, heralded by the hit Somebody to Love. Queen were flying at the time, and they knew it. After their mega-successful year, they decided to play it safe, much like The Works, and basically did a rehash of their best bits!
The production is completely unrestrained - having lost Roy Thomas Baker to bigger things in the USA, the vocal and guitar overdubs are so over the top - the render themselves not only unimpressive, but pointless and swamping otherwise decent songs into a mire of flash and clever-clever studio technique.

Maximum points tho for Tie Your Mother Down and Teo Torriate - well done Dr May!
