I can understand the frustration of some reviewers - I guess I've just got lucky on two occasions.....12 for 9 certainly works out a lot cheaper.

KEEP CHECKING REGULARLY ON AMAZON - BUT BE WARNED, THEY DO SELL OUT QUICKLY AND THERE'S NOWHERE I'VE FOUND CHEAPER.

i must admit i purchased these last year for £31.00 off Amazon which was fantastic cos have one left and its been greeat not having to go out and buy them. Considering buying them again albeit they are more expensive for exactly the same item.

Brita Marella Cool White Water Filter Jug

The water comes through much faster than with the old 'standard' circular style of filter.

The usage indicator is a timer rather than a counter of number of fills as on some other jugs. When initialised it shows bars and the number of bars changes by one each week to show when the filter needs changing (after a month)

The water tastes different from the older filters. It's difficult to describe but I think the water tastes less of dissolved solids but more astringent than with older types of filters - the older filters seem to have a more rounded flavour. The water from both types tastes better than tap water but I would not say that one tastes better than the other.

Bought 2 of these just over a year ago . My stepdaughters chiller unit packed up a few weeks out of warranty. Having switched ours off before a 2 week holiday, when switching back on again, lo and behold ours no longer chills. Having just read other customer reviews it is quite obvious that the product has a very limited shelf life, which at nearly £100 is not acceptable. In addition I found Breville customer services particularly unhelpful when trying to locate a local dealership who could perhaps carry out repairs.

BRITA Water Filter Tap Replacement Cartridge

Having been a user of the Brita Classic jug water filter system for many years there is no doubt that the Brita tap filter cartridge is much better. We live in a hard water area and there is very little scale in the kettle after 3 months. Using the jug system we had scale after 3 weeks. If no filter is used we get bad scale in the kettle after one or two weeks. As the other reviewer states there is no skin on tea or coffee when using the filter. We frequently get a chlorine taste in the water and so far this filter has removed most evidence of this. You only have to smell the cold water out of the normal cold tap to know that the filtered water has been cleaned up. Cooking vegetables in chlorine free water is much more pleasant. Brita Elemaris Cool Black Water Filter Jug

I wanted a water filter for my posh coffee machine. I live in a hard water area and was fed up with descaling the beast, so opted for a Britas unit.

I was originally going to get one of the XL units, but I am glad I didn't. With this unit I can fill it and have filtered water in under a minute. If I had a larger unit, I would only end up leaving half the water in the jug. As the coffee machine prefers freshly drawn water this would just be a waste. I guess if you had a huge family then the XL would be better. But I was more than satisfied with this.

This unit should fit in most fridges too.
