I have been using this model now for seven months,and apart from only getting about fifteen channels, when I thought I would get dozens as it's digital I am still quite pleased with it.But what really made me sit down and write this review is that I had to send it back today as it started playing up which does happen, (but you do get a two year warranty).Unfortunately you have to send it back to pure at your expense which is not cheap as you need to insure it as well for peace of mind. If you buy it from amazon like I did they will only exchange it within six months after which you will have to send it back to pure. Bear that in mind if you are buying one (it's a lot easier taking it back to a local store) under pures two year warranty.

I'd be dallying for a while about buying this or the Intempo DAB iPod dock and I am so glad I bought this one. It has great sound for such a relatively small system (I am sure the neighbours agree). I have literally just plugged in my iPod and it plays. The remote is great too - I can control the wheel with it which is great for being lazy! The DAB functionality is great too - I have already saved my favourite channels in the system.
Very easy to use, looks great, sounds amazing - no regrets (only that I didn't buy it sooner!).

1) The sound from this product is somewhat tinny.
2) Build quality is poor - especially the plastic cd compartment lid and the skewy alignment of speaker grilles.
3) Design is poor - e.g. light from screen backlight leaks out through edges of buttons. Also, layout of button labels is absolutely not thought through - label is halfway between button above and button below so one always needs to think about which button a label applies to. Also the remote controller (no that magnetic pad does not adhere properly to the controller) doesn't allow one to change radio channel!

A tip to Pure: to avoid turning formerly loyal customers such as myself into detractors, lend the prototype to focus-group users before going into production. ... Read More:

But thanks to all the other reviews. I cannot really find fault with this product, and am glad i purchased it. Great looks, fanstastic sound for the size (pretty loud too) has 3 alarm modes, and two alarm settings so you can wake up to either buzzer, AM/FM or IPOD/AUX input. The alarm will switch off after 1hr which is perfect for just waking up to music, getting ready for work and leaving it to its own devices. This also got a 5Star review in the T3 magazine. Amazon cheapest place for this product also. Great value for money. Buy one now!!

I recently received the second one of these from Amazon after the screen on the first one did not work at all so had to be returned for a replacement. I actually bought this as a gift for my father but wanted to be sure it was working properly after the obvious defect on the first one I was sent. Obviously PURE don't bother too much with quality checking what leaves their factory!

It was easy to set up and link to my WiFi and I was up and running listening to DAB radio and internet radio stations from around the world within minutes. As a gadget it is good fun to play with and has some really clever features. But I am still trying to understand what the point is of this radio receiving high quality DAB radio when it has such a pathetic little in-built ... Read More:

I bought this radio for 2 reasons - a DAB for the bathroom (using a chargepak), and to connect my IPOD when away from home.
As a radio the unit is great - we have a weak DAB signal and our Evoke 2 had to have an external aerial to get a decent signal, but this unit finds a strong signal all over the house.
My one niggle is that the line in feature isn't what I would consider a line in feature. If you connect an IPOD to the line in socket you can't control the volume on the radio - only through the IPOD itself. This is ok if you connect the IPOD to the radio through the headphone socket, but not if you connect through the dock connector. This means I can't use my dock. I was looking to replace the mess of wires that was the hi-fi unit in our kitchen; this unit comprised a CD player, cassette player and radio. With some Heath Robinson DAB contraption using an extra plug point and further gadgetry to allow mp3 players to play!

I was desperate to find something compact, which ran off ONE plug and which would have an auxiliary access point for an mp3 player cable (we have three different mp3 players in our house - none of them iPod). Incorporated DAB radio was also high on my wish list - if the thing looked half-way decent I would also be happy. The cassette player was not an issue :)

This is a fantastic little radio that really packs a punch!

It's simple to use and the Aux-input lets me use it as a speaker for my iPod too.

Lots of features but no punch on sound even w/ 'Bass Booster' equalizer on iPod.

Sound lacks decent punch but that's only to be expected for the size and price.

Unbearable to listen on/above 25 vol. (max is 40!).

It kept us awake all night w/ interference (loud) noises every now and then.

After 2-3 days it is unbearable to listen to a cheap & plasticky sound.

So too expensive for what delivers. (which isn't much).

I bought this DAB radio over 2 years ago on the strength of a favourable review in Which? magazine. I got it to use in work where the reception on traditional FM radios was notoriously poor, but this DAB radio picks up far more stations than I ever listen to, and the results were so impressive that two of my colleagues went straight out and bought the same radio. All three of them are still going strong despite some rough treatment and constant daily use.
The radio provides a good clear sound with plenty of volume for a small unit. It's easy to use with all of the controls handily placed in the same area at the front of the radio rather than spread across the sides and top.
