Pure Digital EVOKE1XT MARSHALL DAB Radio Black

This is my 1st DAB radio purchase, being a "metal head", the moment I saw the marshall logo (and the pos reviews here), I knew this was the one. The sound is great, it almost has that "Marshall tone" (guitarists will know what i am talking about) the sound is nice and thick, not "tinny" like some small speaker units. It will go really loud (like, 11 loud), so if you work in a small office or in a mechanics garage it will cover it all.
Its mega easy to set up, the instructions were frighteningly short, but this is due to everything being setup for you already, so the manual is really there if you wish to change display settings etc. Solid build quality, great sound, worth every penny.

Do not buy this if you want to use the alarm feature in a bedroom. The blue backlight on the main display only dims slightly when on standby, and the bright blue light behind the volume control does not turn off.

The product really isn't fit for purpose:
1. Radio interference from mobile phones is shocking! Travelling on a train where mobile signals come in and out made using this device painful - lots of nasty buzzing. And this is when I wasn't using the product as a radio.
2. The back and forward buttons worked the wrong way around! I.e. to fast forward I had to press the reverse button.
3. When left plugged in it drained my iPod battery even when I'd set the iPod into sleep mode.

I can't fault the customer service on this though - when I mentioned the first two problems to me Tecknet responded very quickly and very positively.

Just a short review to add a few observations about this radio:

1. Its certainly nicely made. I have left mine out in the garden and will be doing so to see if it can survive the weather and live up to its its 'Weatherproof' tag;
2. Only 4 preset buttons is a shame. There appears to be space for six, so it makes one wonder why they didn't add a couple more;
3. The sound is good and, so far, the DAB reception has been fine;
4. The rubber feet on the bottom of the unit mean that one can plonk it down on any surface safely;
5. After pressing the Power button, it takes about five seconds for the broadast to come through. My Pure One behaves like this. Strange. My bedroom Tivoli unit comes on virtually instantaneously. ... Read More:

A good mouse whilst it works, but after about a year the charging dock started failing to connect to the mouse properly. Another year later and the left mouse button no longer works properly - it double or triple or even 25-clicks when you touch it sometimes. I've got mice that still work 20 years later, so this is a pretty poor effort. It hasn't even had much use because I've been away a lot - it still looks brand new to the eye.

This is the second one of these I have bought, the first was so good Iv'e bought one for my son. For £6 (thats including post) it's a bargain. It does what it says.

I bought this radio for work as it was cheap. I should know by now that you get what you pay for. The radio overall is cheaply constructed and a tinny sound. I have 3 other Pure DAB radios at home which receive twice the amount of stations this one picked from the same location. I phoned the helpline about the reception and when I mentioned the amount of stations my other radio picked up and she summed it all up when she said "they must be much dearer ones" Overall very disappointing.

With all the lovely weather we are having i was getting frustrated with no music outside! Would have loved to go for the Bose system but had to settle for the next best thing! Great value for money, no complaints as of yet!
