On the outside this product seemed perfect for me: plently of memory, nice display screen and plenty of useful little functions as well as good reviews...

...and yes, it was good for a while. The initial reason for purchasing this was so I had all my music/photos, etc. in one easily accessible place...

...HOWEVER, I have had no end of annoying niggles with this product. In less than a month the menu button had broken and would continuously get stuck which meant I couldn't access what I needed on the player. The select button also broke which made selecting items that much harder. The player keeps freezing and the only way to get it semi-functioning again is to quite literally disable the battery as that's the only way ... Read More:

I took some time to view different leather cases and ended up opting for this one due to it's very simple design as well as very clear access to the ports, headphone jack and buttons. It also allows the Archos to maintain it's good looks as if it did not have a case unlike other cases. I have also found that some cases that do have small holes for access to ports don't actually give full access. From experience this can lead to connections to cables becoming loose which is annoying. This case has 2 right angled aluminium pieces (covered with material) that hold the top and bottom of the Archos near the rocker switches. There is another flat piece at one end only to stop the Archos falling all the way through though. One thing that I found disappointing ... Read More:

OK, Ive had this device for over a week now, and I've got to know it pretty well.

My original concern before buying was the screen - it wasn't huge - but I have been very impressed with it's clarity. For intance the scores of a football match can still be made out, and it has more pixels-per-ich (dpi) than a standard PC screen.

The camcorder quality is also impressive, especially in daylight, and is easily good enough to be played back on a television. Using the camcorder at night or in heavy artificial light creates a lot more noise, but it's still viewable.

The still camera is quite good, but at only 1.2 million pixels it's not going to capture you amazing photo's, but it's a great add-on with exposure settings included ... Read More:

Bought this MP3 player loving the look of it but found the installation of it complicated and very long winded. Registration is not simple and while it looks great and yes the sound quality is absolutely brilliant the radio doesn't work well in the UK,the software I found was very basic and while you can upgarde the firmware it tended to crash or corrupt files when transfering. Bought a Creative before and found that much simpler,go with something else unless you want to be up for weeks !

What a well made little bit of kit. Far more solid than anything apple or archos have made so far.

Don't be fooled by the grundig name on the machine, this machine is a Toshiba and uses Toshiba super fast access micro hard drives currently the fastest in the world.
i work in the electronics sector so i know a fair bit about electronics.

Japanese and German engineering at its very best.

This machine is the bmw/ Mercedes of the "pvr" world bar none.
With so many machines to choose from why pick this?

First of all codexs, this machine can play all divx/xvid/mp4 movies without the need to convert. Something my apple and archos gave me headaches over.
