This is my first portable player, although I have seen and used others belonging to friends, I can truly say how pleased i am with this particular player. It does everytyhing it says on the box. Picture quality is great in all formats including digital TV.I bought the Shinco freeview add-on(although not cheap)and was supprised at how easy it was to set up. using the given arial it picked up 30 stations, however this only worked in some rooms within the house. Fixing an ordinary portable TV arial solved this problem.
The player is well built with many accessories, remote control,2 pairs of ear phones etc: well designed carry case which lets you included all the extras. The case for viewing in the car is flimsey but adequate(you can always ... Read More:

After much delibration, i decided to go for this piece of kit, mainly due to what you are getting for your money, it is unbelivable, i mean it litraly does everthing, apart from wash the dishes!
The picture quality is excelent, although was'nt so clear when using it as a photoframe. it picked up loads of freeview chanels with a decent ariel, the ariel suplied is no good at all. The built in FM transmiter is a realy nice touch have used that alot, after i worked out how to get it working (instructions were a bit vauge on the FM transmit).
sound through the machine is tinny, but with the FM tranmsmiter you dont need to wory about this realy.
The retro games a a great laugh, although they are numbed so you have to look through for one you ... Read More:

I have now had the opportunity to use the Vason 11.3" Portable Freeview TV + DVD Player on three separate occasions and have found in all three instances it switched itself off seemingly at random. On the first occasion I was watching a DVD and at least 10 times during the 2-hour or so long movie I had to try and fast forward to the place where I had watched up-to after the player shut down unexpectedly. I found this to be very annoying.
The second instance was during a caravan weekend whilst watching the TV over two evenings it unexpectedly went off at random dozens of times. The main reason I bought one of these was to transfer old VHS tapes to DVD, but I could never get the tapes to play.
A complete waste of money!

This product looks great - Philips are still obsessed with Apple's design principles. The sound quality and screen quality are significantly better than my previous 7" toshiba portable. It plays like a proper DVD/TV combo - you'll find that the 10" screen is big enough to use as a kitchen or sideboard DVD player.
The build quality is OK - the lid snaps shut a little too sharply and you have to dig your fingernails under the lid to prize it open. The swivel screen is a nice idea, but I'm concerned that with use it'll be the first part of the product to fail. Since it only swivels 180 degrees, you might make the mistake of forcing it the wrong way or too far. At £180, it still represents great value, as long as you accept the minor imperfections. ... My player has broken down after 4-5 weeks of minimal use, luckily amazon were very good and immediately sent out another, alas, the problem has recurred (none of my DVDs load, and the screen remains blank), am now awaiting a refund from amazon, buy at your peril!
