A great walkman. In my opinion, the pros and cons are:

PROS:

Excellent build quality (made of metal so withstands knocks)
Excellent sound quality (mega bass, extra treble, or both provided)
Amazing battery life from the slimline rechargable battery
Option to use 1 AA battery, which also has long battery life
Many features (AVLS, Silence skip, AMS etc.)
Good value for money - you can't get a better personal cassette deck.

CONS:

Can't change treble and bass outside the presets

Can't recharge the battery in the unit (have to remove battery and place on the charger)
A bit heavy
No radio
No backlight on remote
No digital display on the unit.

Philips AZ1140 CD Radio Cassette

I bought this to replace an old radio cassette recorder that had seen many years service, and cost somewhat more than the Philips did! I am very pleased with the quality of sound when playing CDs or tapes. The radio's reception is very good, even without using the aerial for some FM stations. It is possible to record from CD or radio onto tape, and the recording quality is exceedingly good.

Do you get the impression that I am pleased with my purchase? You should do, I would recommend that this finds its way onto your list if you are considering buying a combination machine.

Philips AZ1003 CD Radio Cassette

The Philips AZ1003 is a great radio CD cassette player. It has some great features like the 32 track programmable CD player and the ability to record radio to cassettes, which is a feature I use quite often and I must say it works very well. The sound quality is reasonable for the very low price and is fine for use around the house or while at work.
The radio is very good, and gets a reception much easier than my previous player, it has MW/FM tuner.
A great player, brilliant price!
