I bought this item through Amazon marketplace - GAB Trading - as a gift. As the walkman wasn't used for a few months after it was bought we did not discover that it was faulty until after the 90 day deadline for returns. The volume was stuck at a very high level and the volume button didn't work. Despite my explaining this fact to GAB Trading they refused to respond to my email. I am very disappointed with this poor service and won't use this trader again.

Sound quality seemed pretty good, and I really like the way the controls are set out. Is quite light and portable, battery lasted not tooo badly... Only down side for me was that it could've used a little more "ooomph", more volume please Sony! Rumbling along on a bus it really doesn't quite go loud enough.
Other small niggle is the beep-beep-beep sound when you pause a CD, it becomes dead annoying if youre using a "learn French" CD that you pause every 2 minutes!!!!

Just bought one of these in Singapore, the walkman is pretty musical reproducing female vocals well. Joni Mitchell sounds natural and not shrill-sounding, as does Mary Black. Strings are nice and clear with energy and warmth adequately reproduced-listen to Martin Taylor's album Artistry and you'll see what I mean.

Can't comment much on the headphones which are of the earplug variety as I haven't tried listening through these. I've been using my trusty Sennheisser HD330 which are very comfortable.

Overall quite nice for the price, and well suited for jazz and folk.
