I'm new to the world of microphones and recording but I've recently found a new hobby of karaoke online & song recording. I bought this mic several months ago & I absolutely love it! The clarity is amazing! It can pick up low to high notes without any trouble. I also use it to chat online with my mum & she says the bass on this is great, even better than chatting by phone. She feels £50 is definitely worth it & is asking me to get one for her ;)
My friends have told me that it makes my voice sound a bit lower after recording compared to what they are hearing "live" when they're standing beside me, but I have no idea if that's to do with the mic or just my voice.
It's really easy to use too- just plug ... Read More:
I bought this mic to use with one of the new breed of ultra-portable ultra-cheap solid-state laptops, namely an Asus Eee 4G running Xandros Linux. Also to use with my Vista desktop.
The first thing you might need to know is this is _not_ a stereo microphone, it's mono only - as was the C01U USB. But the C03U USB Microphone has things the C01U USB doesn't, like two more settings for directional pickup of sound, and a switch for low-frequency cutouts on the microphone body itself. Such features on the C03U make it much more useful than the C01U.
Running it with Windows Vista was simple enough, after some basic and easy configuration. Don't install any of the software/drivers that come in the box, if you're using Vista. Just ... Read More:

Everyone tries to podcast using headphones with mic's - usually Plantronics or Sennheiser.
The best way to improve a Podcast - is to buy a better Mic. This the first rule, and easiest.
There are several mics to consider, of which Samson and Rode are the two at the top of the tree.
This podcasting kit is superb, the shockmount is superb, the stand is superb, and I'm delighted that I bought the kit - the quality is sublime.
It has American and European fittings. It's despatched with the LARGER US fittings attached. Now to attach the mic to the stand, you'll need to match up either to American or European fittings, it's up to you, as you get both. If you unscrew the base of the mic, you'll find the neat ... Read More:
This mic is extremely good value for money and quite versatile. Being a USB mic it is wonderfully simple to use. You simply plug it into the computer and plug and play takes care of the rest. I upgraded from a headset mic so it was a massive step up in quality for me. I particularly liked the nice rich tones it gives to your voice. As with any mic you need to spend a little time experimenting with recording positions to find the best sound for what you're trying to create. Being a dynamic mic it is quite tolerant of those people who move their heads around a lot so you won't get wild volume flunctuations. It's not the best mic in the world but for the money it is in a class of its own.
I'd recommend it.
