Obviously Roberts have pitched this as a budget Bose but frankly most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference in sound quality. I think it's a well thought out piece of kit and good value, it sounds good, is compact and has a robust feel to it. It struggles a bit when played too loudly and it certainly won't replace my hi-fi but in a small room, kitchen, bedroom it's ideal, can't fault it, very pleased with it.
bouhgt one from argos today very good....my robi is paired with my ipod video it was no trouble setting up and worked as the manual said it would.
the features ,,,DAB..FM..REMOTE ,,worked as xpected and it's shortcomings are like any other device of the same type..reception will depend on the signal strength in your area...dab will crackle a bit if you are on the move and fm reception is par with most fm receivers ..the remote works quiet well but don't xpect to b able to xplore all the sub menus on your ipod...yes it seemed a bit xpensive but dab devices generally are!!apparently it's not compatible with the latest ipods so if you have a classic or the latest nanos check first!!

This is my second radio, and there is no comparison with the one that is built into my MP3 player. I'm a great fan of radio, and this is just the ticket for my long commute to work. Its use is simple and self-explanatory, so it won't matter if you loose the instructions. You can pre-set it to 10 stations on FM and 5 stations on AM and it's got an amazing sound quality. The pre-sets work a treat and are simple to change at any time. It's relatively heavy which surprised me. It uses a single ordinary triple A battery which means no charging up over night. All plain straightforward high quality. I ordered on a Thursday evening and it arrived on Saturday morning.
Brilliant piece of kit, especially when connected to the Hi-Fi amp, giving perfect sound quality.
One niggle. Even with a new battery, the remote control only works from about 2 metres, and you have to peer at the front of the radio to read what it says, which makes the remote seem rather pointless. A more powerful remote with the radio screen duplicated would be the answer.
Wi-fi radio does not seem to be a settled technology, so this is a work in progress. But it's a good one.
True, you can't pause podcasts or 'listen again' feeds.
True, it's hard to connect to the mediaplayer - I have a Mac which connects to anything, but not this.
True it is prone to 'Network Error' messages, only sorted when you kill the power and start it up from scratch.
Programming favourites on a website is simple, but the interface at the radio end could be more simple.
But if you live in a poor signal area (I do) like listening to internet radio stations like radio paradise (I do) then this is a really good piece of kit.
To any reading these reviews - there was a compatibility problem between the Robi and the Apple iPod Classic and 3G Nano models which appeared when Apple released version 1.1 of the iPod software for these models. Version 1.1.1 did not solve this. Version 1.1.2 released on 30th April 2008 does solve this, and the Robi now no longer turns off after two minutes. Thanks Apple! I can now listen for hours at at time. One minor new problem replaces that old one. If Robi is in DAB or FM mode and you use Robi to switch off your iPod, then you will generally need to use the iPod controls to switch back on again, and it may require a couple of On-Off cycles. No such problem if you switch off with Robi in Remote Control mode.
I note that one reviewer found very poor battery life ... Read More:
I bought one of these to use in the garden, being no mains power and not wanting to spend a small fortune on 6 'D' sized batteries for my other radio.
First impressions: Good quality build, rubberised controls, but no carrying handle. Headphone socket, mains adaptor socket and MP3 inputs on rear case. The mains adaptor itself covers 100-240V. You also have menu options as per which country you want the radio 'set up' to work in when you first switch it on.
Battery pack is 3 'AA' sized 2000mA nimh batteries wrapped in plastic that fit in a compartment in the bottom of the radio secured with 2 screws and has a tiny plug/socket connection.Has a rubber-ducky type antenna, which screws into place on the top. This has a telescopic antenna built in, but you may ... Read More:
Roberts Radio Solar Powered DAB White Radio + Rechargeable Battery
This radio replaced a power hungry DAB radio which I was buying batteries
every 2-3 weeks. As the radio is situated on a south facing window ledge in
a bathroom this seemed an ideal replacement with its solar re-chargeable batteries getting plenty of sun. I had doubts as solar charge products seem
to run out but this radio holds its charge and after its first set-up mains
charge the battery indicator always stays pretty full and I have not needed
any further mains charging after using it for over a month and its seems unlikely to need recharging for a very long time if ever at all.
I am using it in UK in October so the days are shorter than the nights.

I bought this radio for my wife for a Christmas present and I was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself to use in my garden shed whilst pottering about.
When you first switch it on it searches for all the digital radio stations that can be found in your area. You can then assign these stations to one of 5 buttons, pressing another button lets you set another 5 presets making 10 in all - plenty for me. The sound is great - clear and sharp. Separate treble and bass buttons alow you to make the adjustments you need for your own personal ear. The 9.5 x 2cm display has various settings including a streamed display of the current programme. Tuning is by pressing the "up" and "down" buttons to go through the programmes stored on the radio or by a tuning knob.
