As has been highlighted the DR201's reception isn't the best, but then neither did I find it terrible. With the aerial up but not extended I can get reception round town, and when fully extended I find the reception is perfectly adequate for most uses. The sound quality is excellent and the unit is wonderfully small (smaller than most of its rivals). The display is large and clear, and the controls are easy once you get used to them. The FM mode is functional but rather basic (no RDS). The MP3 player works well and reads ID3 tags, although the 64M capacity is a little low. The USB connection is standard mass-storage device so requires no drivers for more recent versions of windows. Battery life (2xAA) is up to about 8 hours with super high capacity ... Read More:

I purchased one about 6 months ago as I wanted to use it in my car and thought the SD card slot a great idea. DAB reception is OK if you trail the head phone lead across the top of the dash as it acts as the aerial. But the unit eats batteries, and will kill a set of rechargeables in about half an hour. The MP3 player interface is a joke as it does not recognise files so all tracks are jumbled up.It keeps corrupting tracks at which point instead of skipping to the next one it shuts down, useless when your driving. And know the unit keeps freezing up when turned on, I emailed Perstel support about this and got no reply what so ever, so don't expect any after sales service from them. I paid £80 for mine and it is not worth it.
I use this radio with rechargable NiMh batteries. I use MB CR 898 AAA & AA charger.
I really like the size and weight of this radio and the fact that I can carry around 2 AA batteries as spares in my pocket, rather than lug around C or D batteries.
I've taken it travelling with me to Jordan and Poland and it's worked well. A fair price for a fair product.
First things first.... if you can live with the name you will be the proud owner of a very small, light and quite highly specified mp3 player.
For a shade under £90.00 you get 64Mb of on-board memory (not expandable but its tiny so what do you expect?) a backlit LCD with artist, song and title support (ID3) and a reasonably fast USB connection.
This is a very small player and it fits snuggly into your hand with easy access to all the buttons and easy to use menu system for changing the contrast, repeat modes etc.
I tested this player using a set of plug metallic earphones and a Nofx album. Play this little beauty and full volume in Rock mode and you get NO bass distortion. The bass is very deep and it sounds great played ... Read More:
... If you're a regular punter then just buy it because; - It sounds good and the free in-earphones surprisingly good. - The display shows you Track number, name and artist, track time, the equaliser preset you are using, battery life etc. - The light blue backlight is very practical and to save battery you can set how many seconds it stays on. - The main control is an up/down rocker on the side, that you can 'click' in. Even my podgy fingers find it easy. - It uses 1 regular AA battery - In all other respects (battery life, frequency response etc) it is not particularilly better or worse than the opposition. - It's very small, but not quite the 'loseable' size of others. - For a similar price you could get a model that ... This is the big brother of the Perstel MP10 Chic. The Chic 101 is available as a 128MB option only. It has the same blue LCD display as the Pestel MP10, but outdoes it elsewhere. The 101 has a resume feature so if you stop an MP3 and restart, it resumes from where you left off. It also takes up to 128MB of extra Smartmedia storage...
