I won't contribute a comprehensive review of this camera or but just point out a few annoying features which, in my opinion render it less than perfect. I should point out that I have had many years of experience using traditional SLR cameras and digital compacts. The features which I find annoying are:
1. There is no physical stop at infinity when using the manual focus ring on either of the lenses supplied. I don't know how common this is with other similar digital SLRs but in my experience there is always a physical stop on normal SLR lenses, including those with an auto-focus capability. By this I mean that when you reach infinity, the focus ring continues to turn. No doubt the lens is focusing at infinity but it is difficult ... Read More:

The handy strap is designed to keep your Olympus 1030 afloat. It does this adequately. It is designed to fit around your wrist and is easy to swim with. Useful for pool excursions where you may be playing about with other people and would like to keep a tab on where your Olympus camera is.. rather than lying at the bottom of the pool... somewhere !
One problem... to fit the loop through the metal lanyard 'eye' on the camera is like solving puzzle in dexterity and design. The bulbous nature of the plastic connector and the space available in the loop barely correspond..making it an operation you would not want to perform more than once. For this reason, my camera has both my 'land' and 'water' lanyard connectors left on it all the time, so ... Read More:

I bought these binoculars based on a very positive review of the Olympus 8x25's, because I wanted a pair with zoom.
At 8x magnification they're great and then, if you want to zoom in you can move up to 16x magnification. This is easy enough to do, but it does require you to adjust the focus slightly.
I was surprised to read in the previous review that they were having trouble with these binoculars when wearing glasses. I wear glasses and I've had no problems.

Shame - Shame - Shame !!!
I've used Olympus cameras for the past 30 years and up and till now have been pleased with each one I've owned but unfortunately this is not the case here.
The camera is a bit of a babe magnet - it certainly doesn't scare the girls away by causing unsightly bulges in your trousers and when it's turned on only about 2 inches sticks out - the girls go "ooh" & "aah" & "isn't it little" then quickly strike a pose as it starts flashing in their direction.
The design of the camera is well thought out - it is sleek and stylish with drop-dead gorgeous looks. The zoom control is around the shutter release which is a lot nicer & more intuitive to use than the rocker switches found on the back ... Read More:
