I work in the construction industry and bought this camera to use on site, which not only worked flawlessly considering all the dirt and dust, the pictures where great quality. I then took it on holiday to crete, where it managed to survive the beach, pool and waterpark. It was used by all in our group from kids to grown ups. However do yourself a favour and buy a 2gb memory card and use the video when in the water, outstanding.
Most people like to rave about the kit they buy. Cognitive dissonance! Let's be impartial. I've used the E520 for a month after buying through Amazon. It's a competitive camera in its price range. The compromises are all about the Four Thirds standard. Shorter focal lengths (half those of 35mm film cameras) go towards lighter weight and very good zoom range effectively 28mm - 300mm in 35mm equivalent with the two kit lenses. But also a smaller sensor for the megapixels with consequent noise problems to manage. You have to study the manual to get the best out of the E520. The most useful online review is of its immediate predecessor the E510, in dpreview.com. Olympus' compromise has been to add strong automatic noise reduction which makes ... Read More:

Having tried and failed to get the dmw-lt55 for my Panasonic Lumix FZ8, I learnt that this lens also fits the bill. You require the Panasonic dmw-la2 adaptor, but the Olympus Tcon 17 is a) much cheaper than the dmw-lt55 and b) is more widely available. A win-win. It certainly saved me at least £30 on the best Panasonic offer, which usually came back as out of stock anyway. Can also be used on the more advanced FZ18.

I bought the adapter and wide and tele lenses for my Olympus SP550uz superzoom and was VERY disappointed. The extra magnification is hardly noticeable and pics with the tele or wide angle are a waste of time. I ended up returning the adapter and both lenses for refund, the camera is much better just used on its own.
The only good thing about the adapter is it gives you a solid holding point for the camera (which becomes huge and heavy with everything added), but the pics are no use with either lens so my advice is keep your money and use the camera as it comes, pics are much bettter that way.

I found this camera to be quite bulky. The camera speed is very slow and by the time the picture has been taken, its too late. The lighting on the camera is ok. Although in bright light, the background of the picture comes out too bright. Also, it takes XD card, which are not widely used in computers and in some printers. A usb lead needs to be used to upload pictures. I will be selling this camera as soon as i can.
