I got this as a birthday present from my parent. It is really a little magic device. I can now watch full suite of Freeview TV channels in perfect quality on my new laptop. It can be scheduled to record your favourite program at a particular time in case you are not in. Additionally, it also supports DVD playback. The small portable antenna provided doesn't work very well, but no problem with my roof aerial. Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to spending a lot of time with it.
Quickly delivered, worked first time with XP and Office 2007
good value for money, if I ever need one again or have a chance to buy another, I would buy the upgrade USB receiver 'flash memory' device that has 512MB inside, seem a good way to hold your power point folders on the USB receiver flash memory.
Nice to have a set of spare batteries as well as a set inside the device.
I have incurable renal cancer and bought this little TV to keep me company as I am spending longer confined to bed. It is terrific - but the supplied aerials in the area I live in (south Hertfordshire) are all but useless. However, connection to the house aerial resulted in an excellent picture, and I delight in the ability to play DVDs, CDs and even movies saved on USB memory sticks as AVIs. The picture quality is first class for such a small unit - my wife, who rarely notices these things, even commented on it. If I were to make any complaint it would be that it doesn't allow a slide show with music - but then that is what digital photo frames are for, isn't it? And I have yet to find a way to speed up the display of pictures in a slide ... Read More:
This will not work without a proper aerial, therefore is not really portable. You can use it as a 'set-top box' to turn your analogue TV at home into a digital one to pick up Freeview etc. but these boxes cost next to nothing these days in the shops, so you're better off either getting a cheap one from a store or buying a proper TV with a built-in one.
Don't be fooled by the positive descriptions of this thing, which were probably written by employees of the the vendor. Its not worth the money.

Ordered 3pm yesterday, arrived early morning today just after 17 hours. The first impression was that the TV looks nice and cute. Plugged to power socket and home TV aerial, scanned 65 Freeview and digital radios channels within 2 minutes. TV pictures are very clear with good resolution. Lost a few channels when plugged to the included portable aerial, understand this is due to signal issue as my home in Herts is not good for reception coverage, but the analogue channels works fine with the small aerial.
Tested to connect the TV to my laptop as a monitor, works ok and VGA is quite useful while connecting to the computer.
Only downside of the TV is the sound is not quite powerful due the speakers are at back, but it is ... Read More:
This is a nice little product, apparently sturdy and well built, and it served very well in a large lecture theatre (seating 300).
The question is : is it too powerful?
It is a Laser 3B device which means that it is at the extreme limit of safety for general use. The official publication of the Health Protection Agency says:
Class 3B
Class 3B lasers may have an output power of up to 500 mW (half a watt). Class 3B lasers may have sufficient power to cause an eye injury, both from the direct beam and from reflections. The higher the output power of the device the greater the risk of injury. Class 3B lasers are therefore considered hazardous to the eye. However, the extent and severity of any eye ... Read More:
This is a Class 3B laser, it should not be used by anyone who has not received training with use of lasers. According to the UK Health Protection Agency this class of laser is totally un-suitable as a laser pointer, and green wavelength lasers are extrememly hazardous for use by un-trained people.
To safely use a laser of this class you would require Laser safety googles and even a small exposure could cause lasting damage to your eyes. Sure its brighter than a red laser but it is far more hazardous, if you are buying this be very sure to avoid pointing it at people and reflective surfaces.
