I bought this little gadget in July this year for my birthday in August (prezzie from daughters) and having read the reviews thought I had a 50-50 chance of it being worthwhile. This is as much down to my own jaded cycnicism on new gadgets, such as my iPOD Classic which is barely audible due to some apparent but unlisted EU legislation on volume controls! Secondly getting decent DAB coverage in my house is also a major challenge with very sporadic pockets of average coverage and huge rafts of no coverage at all.

Through purgatory, but is this paradise? I bought this together with a Netgear basic router and found setup far more complicated than expected. The terminology varies from manufacturer to manufacturer so Intempo's "WPA Code" is Netgear's "Wireless Passphrase". The unit is slow to respond and the remote control is fiddly and the buttons are stiff. That said: I first went "Bartok", which broadcasts @ 320KB/S and with Grado SR60 headphones the quality was stunning. Radio 3 fans should be aware that the BBC offers only 64KB/S.

I already have a pair of iLogic3 speakers for my iPod that I was so impressed with it and decided, unless I am willing to spend more than £200 pounds, I will not look at any other brand. True enough, this model of iStation did not disappoint me.

I read a lot of reviews before buying both on the product and merchants. Two things I would say, this model has one trick... adjust the alarm volume as you will have a shock of your life in the morning if you don't (some tips I got from one of the reviews - thanks!) and buy from Amazon (and not from its merchants - you will know this when you choose the product to buy). Pure are the market leading manufacturers of DAB radios in the UK. They regularly win plaudits and supertests conducted by the likes of "What Hi-Fi" magazine on the basis of their sound quality and digital tuners. They seem to have succeeded in carrying on this tradition in a combination radio/alarm clock.

My first impression was how good the casing design is. It's nice and compact, which is very important as it has to fit on a small bed-side table. I like the shape, the display screen is very clear and easy to read (and automatically adjusts to current light levels). The buttons have a nice feel to them and are sensibly laid out, with a nice big 'snooze' button right at the front!

The good looks of this radio are spoilt by the scraggy bit of crumpled wire attached to like an afterthought that is meant to serve as an aerial. Apart from looking bad, you will have to find somewhere to attach the loose end of the aerial and it suffers from a poor DAB signal pick-up. Our old cheap and nasty DAB radio that this was meant to stylishly replace gets much better DAB tuning using a regular metal telescopic aerial.

But that only sets the scene for the worst part - the clock is totally dependent on the DAB signal to keep time. So if your DAB signal is lost, say goodbye to the time display and walking up to an alarm.

Does what it says and does it well. Works in the car, in the house on my old stereo and the home cinema system. It's plastic and may break easily, just don't drop it. At this price it's a bargain, play all your mp3s through all your radios.

Had one for about 10 months now. Well built and very good sound quality, even when used in an internal bathroom (I live in SW London so assume DAB signal is pretty strong). Some small but annoying criticisms though:

1. The necessary charge pack battry is a rip off at £27 extra
2. When powered by battery it has a stupid double-press on button to turn radio back on (press once and it turns off again, need to press twice at carefully spaced interval)
3. No ability to have alarm cancelled at weekends so you need to remember to turn it off every Friday and bakc on Sunday night

I can't see how anybody can give this radio a five star review. It has some good features (cd/mp3/fm as well as dab. looks okay, sounds okay) but it is frustrating in so many ways.

30 presets but only 1 preset button that you have to scroll through and no access to it from the remote control. What is the point of that?

Nothing works on one touch. If I point my remote control at the telly and scroll through the programmes it does just that, scrolls through the channels. With this remote control you scroll with one button and then select with another.

Exactly the same principle works on the radio itself... scroll the presets or the dab stations with one button and then select with another. This is irritating. And, what makes it more irritating ... Read More:

I found the headphone socket is not of the same high quality as the rest of the unit. You have to play arround with it to get it to work and it tends to jam. Mechanicially its not solid. I used Dell and Sennheiser phones, both had problems.

As a general grip about Alarm/Radios including this one. They all seem to be designed to cut the alarm sound over to the headphones when inserted. To my mind the alarm should always be on the speakers regardless of the use of headphones. Otherwise you are probably going to miss it!

This DVD/VCR combi recorder has got to be the easiest machine ever to use to convert those precious videos to DVD. Very simplistic instructions, easy to set up and one touch button recording. I have converted all my videos to DVD using the slow play option from the drop down menu, just over 6 hours of recording on each DVD+RW disc. It allows recording to DVD+-RW, DVD+-R, DVD+R DL and VHS. It has the facility to edit each recording that you make i.e. name the film title or name of occasion recorded (birthday etc) . It also comes with video plus and has all the support for recording from digital video camcorders. It is compatible with CD, CD-R/-RW, MP3-CD, MP3-DVD, WMA.
