This iPod looked dodgy ever since it came out. It looks more or less a miniature version of the ipod classic. It's just £50 than a classic. This only store 8 GB while classic store 80 GB and it has no extra features whatsoever. Finally the 4th generation is out and that can do things the classic can't so don't buy this.
I primarily bought this for the remote functionality as being able to control the ipod remotely is an invaluable addition for any ipod. And as a remote this little device works perfect, you can play/pause/skip, fast forward, fast rewind, as well as switch the ipod on and off. An LCD would have been helpful, but nonetheless as a remote this device works flawlessly.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the radio feature. When you first start setting up the radio it starts off promising. When it is plugged in the ipod immediately recognizes it and adds an extra Radio option to its main menu. Select radio from this menu and you are confronted with a very flash and stylishly retro radio dial on the ipod screen. From here you can tune ... Read More:

I was absolutely amazed when the item was delivered on the following day fist class recorded having ordered it on 3rd October and was told to expect it on the 13th, well done Niche and Royal Mail!
The player is easy to use but the display is on the small side and requires good light to view. The buttons are OK but the multiple function fast forward, stop, pause/play and reverse all on one button are not as convenient as single function buttons. This player replaced a Goodmans player that failed only after about 18 months, but the buttons on this were much more user friendly.

This CD player is certainly portable, but not very convenient because there is no belt clip or means of attachment to clothing. In other words, you can be stationery with it on a surface near you or moving provided you hold it!
Unfortunately, this deficiency cannot be seen without cutting open the firm plastic packaging, which then voids the conditions for return to Amazon.
The sound quality is satisfactory but the "mega bass" does not do much for my hearing.

A great little unit comes with a remote controller which is not always mentioned but very useful. Controls are well placed and easy to use. I could have wished for a slightly better tone but mega bass is available which makes a lot of difference. I really congratulate Sony for using re-cyled cardboard packing instead of that ghastly plastic foam which gets everywhere these days. Just missed giving it 5 stars because the price is just a tad high for the speaker quality which one gets.

When I opened the substantial packaging I burst out laughing, it looks like a miniature UFO! I plugged it in, connected my MP3 player and turned it on to discover the sound was quite good, but only on hard surfaces, the speaker faces down and the sound reflects from the surface it stands upon. It isn't flimsy, it's heavy enough, feels robust and is plenty loud enough for listening in a bedroom, it's obviously not going to be your main system but it's ok for smaller rooms. One thing to note, it is obviously MONOPHONIC, it has only one (1) speaker, but it sounds good enough for casual listening, as you would listen to the radio for instance. The bonus of 1gb of internal playable memory is a great idea, although I haven't tried it yet, but if you turn it on with nothing ... Read More:

I use this machine for recording sermons at our church and for playing background music through a professional PA system. The only gripes I have is the less than intuitive operation - I have tried to show colleagues how to use it, finalise discs, set levels etc and it's not easy! The operation of the recording side of it is not as easy as our old fashioned cassette deck! First you have to allow a few seconds before the recording starts while the machine faffs about checking the disc etc. Then you have to make sure you haven't accidentally touched the record select button and upset the input signal. Then after the recording, you must finalise the disc before it can be played on another machine. So not the most user friendly piece of technology but still an excellent ... Read More:

Bought this iPod as a gift for wife and she loves it - looks great and overall it's a very good mp3 player. Though for me the only reason to buy a 1g (first generation) nano is if you want a black or white one. It's true what they say, you only have to put the 1g down on a normal surface and it's scratched. The 2g nano has a longer life battery and better casing, which they say is less likely to pick up marks. So for me it's a shame there isn't a 2g in white.
If like me you're a windows user it's worth noting you can install the iPod as a drive on your pc but as these are older models, they require an up-date before you can transfer files. After wasting loads of time I found myself having to use the iTunes software. My advice even if you don't want to use iTunes, do the ... Read More:
