Season 2 of HBOs excellent 'Rome' continues on exactly were the first season finished. Caesar has been assasinated and the subsequent power struggle once again sets Rome towards civil war. Mark Antony and Octavian must fight for survival and they try to bide for time until they can extract revenge.
Once again the acting is hugely impressive and the characters are all deep, complex and highly enjoyable. This is a wonderfull production and its hard to find a better television series. Its not for the faint hearted, there is plenty of blood, sex and violence for the more timid of us to shy away from ..... but if, like me, you like your drama's gritty and realistic then this is for you.

This period--from the rise of Caesar to his assassination--is an absorbing one, with a cast of extraordinary characters, and the series does it proud. 'Rome' is an instantly gripping, absorbing series with a completely convincing recreation of ancient Roman life and manners(and pretty shocking they are, too, in many instances!) The acting is superb, the settings magnificent, the music haunting, and there is no attempt to modernise the attitudes of the time. The portrayal of Roman religion is also done very, very well. This is Rome both familiar and very strange. And yes, it's very graphic, in all sorts of ways, but then, those weren't compassionate or modest times. Very highly recommended.

After throwing a secret party for his son Chris's 12th birthday , Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) lands himself in hot water with his wife Miranda (Sally Field) and she demands a divorce.
When Miranda wants to hire a housekeeper to look after the children, Daniel is outraged that Miranda would rather let a stranger look after the children than him so with a little help from his make-up artist brother, Daniel turns up to an interview as Mrs Doubtfire, a british nanny who has 15 years experience under her belt and is hired on the spot.
Mrs Doubtfire is a fantastic family film that is funny, sad and touching all at the same time.

This is gripping, intelligent, rewarding drama. I must have been out of the country when this was on and I only found out about it through Amazon. Thanks reviewers! I really enjoyed it and the only reason for four and a half stars rather than five is that, like some other reviewers, I found the ending not as satisfying as the rest.
The acting is outstanding; John Simm as the lead reporter Cal McCaffrey and David Morrisey as politician Stephen Collins give faultless performances. Kelly MacDonald, Bill Nighy, James McAvoy, Polly Walker, Philip Glenister are all excellent. I found Dominic Foy (Marc Warren) the only mis note; though he provides some comic relief in the midst of the dramatic tension he seemed to be acting in a different drama from the others. ... Who better to play down-to-earth hero Jack Ryan than the-guy-next-door? Harrison Ford does Tom Clancy's character complete justice. With his crooked smile, and as ever fantastic acting, Patriot Games is a sheer pleasure to watch.
More often than not, movies do not do justice to the books. This however is not the case here. Of course a movie cannot possibly include all the little details that a book can, but even those who never read Clancy's books would enjoy this movie. Good dose of action and drama...couple of hours perfect entertainment!

Not particularly for Lethal Weapon fans but a lovely gentle unfolding of a gentle story. It begins in a damp depressing London and end up in beautiful Italy. People, as well as the scenery are transformed and the memorable performances of Polly Walker and Miranda Richardson make for a memorable cinamatic experience. Buy the movie, you'll want to watch it more than once (or twice!).

I came to this film b/c I knew Peter Gabriel's evocative "In your eyes" features in it. What a pleasant surprise! Being rather superficial - perhaps not -how nice to see a bunch of actors who have not been buffed in a sleek Hollywood manner, they are normal shapes/ sizes, they can act and convey emotion without designer intervention!
The plot I liked, was a little unconventional, which was good; dramatic developments without hysteria or melodrama. A good ensemble piece.
John Cusack is excellent; his sister Joan - always fab- lends support too. There is a cute kid but he's just that, normal with some hcarming moments. The father-daughter is strong but not cliched; lots of nice touches which made this is a very satisfying feature.
One that can be watched with ... Read More:

This film is an obvious capitalization of Basic Instinct's success. As usual in these cases, it fails. While the plot is promising, it never creates the proper atmosphere and it lacks depth. It is worth just for Sharon Stone, who is a pleasure to watch, and the redeeming soundtrack.

A truly terrible film. I still watched it to the end in the same way people watch the wreckage from car accidents. It was un-intentionaly funny, it has the same other worldly view of London that Notting Hill had. The only people i really had any time for were the old couple. All the rest i couldnt care less for. Bunch of pretentious idiots.
That annoying young bloke chatting-up anything that moves, where was his accent from? Ewan mcgregor playing a North London gay, how obvious. The couple being ever so nice and relaxed about their imminent divorce, is that for real?
Basicly i cant understand what the films about, apart from saying; Come up to Hampstead Heath in the summer! its really nice, you may find the odd gay hanging around in the bushes, and meet the odd burk, but apart from that, ... Read More:
