Having watched this film a good half dozen times, I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to be able to watch a Saturday night slapstick which does not involve sex gags, gormless teenagers or even worse, high school students. I would however take the Amazon reviewer to task about the "c-list" stars. If John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg and Rowan Atkinson are C-list, I'd like to know who's on your "a-list". There's a time and a place for everything, and if you want something light and distracting, this is perfect. We can't all watch "Schindler's List" all the time. Even thinking about this film brings a smile to my face.

I like Michelle Pfeiffer. I like Paul Rudd. I liked Amy Heckerling's writer/director work on'Clueless', and can appreciate a cameo by Wallace Shawn. I was really rooting for this film to be one of those undiscovered gems that didn't really make it big anywhere... until it got to dvd. Sadly, that wasn't to be.

There are lots of very likeable aspects to this film: the performances turned in by Michelle Pfeiffer as 40-something TV writer/producer Rosie and Paul Rudd as the (AHEM!!!) 29-year old comedy actor Adam who attracts her attention, falls for her and creates her a lot of stress in the process. The relationship between Pfeiffer and her screen daughter is also a high point.

There was a time when Tom Hanks had a boyish look about him...thus as an adult and this role fitted him perfect. Big is a delightful light hearted simplistic yet sentimental comedy drama about a young boy awakening the next morning as a grown up after a magical transformation was in the making the day before....A boy in an adults body helped him in getting a job with a toy manufacturing store only to be an expert in the genre because he was still a child in mind....Elizabeth Perkins plays the confused girl-friend when Hanks does well at his job becoming the flavour of the month then very popular as the new face on the block....Hanks plays the role with great realism as his child like mannerisms within adult surroundings are fantastic so much so you almost feel sad ... I have always loved this film!! It was the first film Whoopee was the lead in and she certainly is the lead in this film - in fact she makes this film her own and none of the other actors even get a look in.
It is such a funny action packed move from start to finish and it hasn't dated since it first was released back in 1986.
If you like Whoopee or comedy in general then you will really like this film. There isn't a film like it out there today, this is such a gem of a movie that I feel everyone should own this masterpiece. it's like Sister Act in the funny stakes so if that makes you laugh then this will make you laugh harder!!

This is an amazing film, even if it does require a fair bit of reading around it to fully understand. There are some very funny moments, though not necessarily from the long line of Saturday Night Live comedians involved. And is Sarah Michelle Gellar the whore of Babylon or is it Bai Ling? Both do some fairly ridiculous slut acting, which is not a criticism as it's exactly what's required of them.

Anyone who struggles to understand the basic plot need only look to Richard Kelly's previous film, Donnie Darko, for answers. The broad theme is exactly the same: a rift in space-time creates an alternate, largely negative reality, a reality that needs to be destroyed before "real" reality is destroyed instead. ...but I did! I watched it as there was not much else on but tbh I wasn't expecting much. I definitely wasn't expecting it to be as brilliant as it was! Ok, so it's not a thought provoking-cutting edge-oscar nominated film, but it had me laughing out loud at parts and gasping in slight horror/surprise at some of the more unexpected ones. The idea is simple and you've heard it all before; 3 self proclaimed 'losers' join forces to get back at those who tormetned them when they were younger, and in this case that just happens to be by beating them at baseball (a sport they happen to have never played). So it sounds ridiculous and like a million other films, but the characters are superbly crafted to be funny and likeable- and the 'baddies' take on typical macho and mean form. But along the ... Robbie came from a boy band to become an international star, not as good as Michael Bubble, But the little note on Robbie's latest album Swing When You Are Winning, told me that it is certainly something to look forward to. Little did I know Robbie is so capable to touch someone with his voice. It surprised me and I couldn't help thinking, Robbie is on the road to super stardom!!

Congratulations to a wonderful concert indeed! I gave it a 4 because the disc is somewhat short on features, otherwise I'd have given it a five. I wish, really wish there'll be a DVD of all of Robbie's videos, as I am dying to see more of him.

A very intelligent and funny movie. It addresses some very human weaknesses in a very uncompromising way. This is one of the rare movies that shows human behaviour without trying to conform to what is socially acceptable. The only thing missing is the narrative by David Attenborough.

i know my dad really likes this film but i just cannot see the facsination with it. It's slow and boring to me. I've heard that the 70s version is much better and wish i'd watched that before watching this, it may have saved me 2 hours of my life.

Other reviews which have dissected this film piece by piece and so paint it in a negative light are clearly overlooking the sheer brilliance of this movie as a black comedy masterpiece. The film had me laughing out light in so many places - the absurd lack of realism is the whole point. Costner shines in a nice change of direction, Russell gives the film a real edge. I agree Slater is underused. Plus Cox is less than believable but hey, she looks good so enjoy the ride. Cinematography is awesome - look no further for a real slice of Mid-West America on a road trip extraordinaire. Oh and the soundtrack is chosen to perfection too. In my book director Lichtenstein has more than pulled off a classic cinematic treasure; it's well worthy of challenging any other Tarantino-esque dark humour which may rival it in the future.
