I love this adventure, pure escapism. I'm a fan of Stargate and when this spin off came out I was a bit worried but I got hooked from the first episode and still am!!! in fact I would even go as far as to say I like it better. And what about John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) cor! could watch him all day!! But on a more serious note, I hope this lasts as long as SG1 and carries on being as good. The stories are great and every episode transports you to another place. Keep it up!!!

I bought this and it only took me 2 days. Stargate Atlantis season 2 was absolute superb, the action was great and good story lines but i think this was well worth the money. So all of you Stargate fans out there...get this now because you will not regret it trust me.

I was toying with getting the older box-set many months ago. I'd scoured the retailers and eBay and noticed the two different varients of the time. But then I spotted on one that there was a new box-set coming out which had one of the Movies included into it, and looked to solve the numerous comments that the older sets had received owing to poor packaging. Also, the price of the newer set was actually less than the older ones were fetching on eBay.
So I decided to wait as it was a bit of a no-brainer.
What arrived has met my expectations and I am glad I made this decision.
It is a simple box set container, with simple multi-disc plastic DVD cases that hold the discs fine. It's not glamourous or exciting, but it does the ... Read More:

This is one of the most intelligent films ever made. It is a metaphor for the prison that is the limitations of the human mind/western society.
The clues throughout the film are abundant. Each of the characters' names represents a prison:
Leaven + Worth = Fort Leavenworth Prison.
Holloway = Women's Prison.
Kazan = Prison for the mentally handicapped.
Rennes = Prison that innovated many prison norms and regulations used today (Hence Renne's creativity in dealing with traps).
Quentin = San Quentin, a prison known for it's brutality.
Alderson = A prison that focuses on isolation as a form of punishment.
Each of the characters has a skill that will help the group as a whole to escape but conversely ... Read More:

A very quick addition to the comments below which have just about said it all. This is a fantastic film if you like, boxing, hustling, gamesmanship, action-comedies. This is a fantastic film if you hate boxing, hustling, gamesmanship, action-comedies. As is said before I challenge anyone to guess the final twist before its revealed. The final twist that is, not the twist you think you see coming at the end, oh no, I mean the twist after that.
The only grumble I have about this film is that one of the opponents for Honey Ray to face is SOOOO huge, that you really can't see him ever losing. On the upside the sight of Heather Grahams legs more than make up for this.

Let me start by saying im NOT a massive Cronenberg fan, I find most of his films sick and too graffic, BUT, like The Fly and The Dead Zone, Scanners is EXCELLENT, it is dark, gritty, stylish and well acted. Scanners 2 is capable as a sequel as is Scanners 3 but I found that the "head jerking" in Scanners 3 a tad laughable. I cant say that Scanners is a great socialogical work or groundbreaking special effects (although the head/brain explosion using a 12 gauge shotgun is genius!) but all in all it is well though out and enjoyable, but please note...
DO NOT LOOK AT THE MOLE ON THE SCIENTISTS FACE IN THE COMPUTER EXPLOSION SCENE OF SCANNERS AS YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO FOCUS ON ANYTHING ELSE!
I give Scanners a solid 5, scanners 2 & 3 add to ... Read More:

Yes it's on Region 1, but if you can convert your DVD player or have multi-regional - THEN BUY THIS FILM.
It's humour is more British than American (it being a canadian film). It was shot on a tiny budget and you might not know the actors but this film is an GEM.
Think John Cleese, think Fish Called Wanda and you are pretty close to understanding this quirky comedy that is a family fun film about murder.
The acting is superb, the comic timing is prefection, the script is tight and not a word wasted and the directing is astonishingly good coming from a first time director.
Take a chance on this movie, you won't be disappointed.

Despite the 3-star rating, for me `Stargate: Atlantis' remains slick and absorbing television and it's still one of my favourite shows. But so often with season three there's a great deal of promise, only for little to be delivered in terms of engrossing stories with a moral core, or with convincing character development. I also find it disconcerting how the Wraith are being developed into a race devoid of any redeemable qualities and how despite their sentience they're treated as little more than base life forms, even when they take human form and gain the potential to do good, as evidenced in episode 2- `Misbegotten' (7/10).
Sadly, I also think the show is beginning to suffer from a lack of well-rounded, sympathetic characters- Rodney is central to ... Read More:
