With the current Batman craze because of the Dark Knight, it was time for me to re-visit these movies. For me these are still good, especially the first 2, however not the Dark Knight I am afraid to say. These movies are more like the Comic Book Batman before the Dark Knight re-invention, and do have that more superhero comic book feel with some homage to the TV series. This is even more evident because of the new movies which have a much more sinister and 'real' feel to them. The new movies very much set Batman in a 'real' world setting, makes you feel that maybe this could happen, wheras this series is very much more fantasy, with the feel of Gotham City, the gadgets and the enemies. A fantastic story brought to life by great acting and no shying away from the politics of the day. Some very funny moments and some that bring a lump to your throat. Well worth a watch - several in fact!

and that says a lot after SCARFACE. But I have never seen anyone play a blind man as well as Pacino. The empty stare, most actors can't do it. Although a remake (the original is an Italian made film) this is a GREAT drama and fully deserves the Oscars it got! Actually worth 6 stars!

In the book, the relationship between Adam (O Donnel) and Sam (Hackman) is really well penned. It just shows that bad seeds don't exist, there is always a time for redemption be it intra or inter generation.
Chamber is one of Grisham's best novels. It is very gripping and you wonder whether Sam Cayhall will turn in his accomplices and avoid the death penalty.
Yet he is resolute. Up to here OK. Casting was well done and Gene Hackman is appropriate to play a racist old Klansman and O Donnell as a rookie lawyer is good enough. Yet the screenplay does seem to plod at times.
Pleasingly it didn't give in to schmaltz and have Hackman being sprung from prison at the end, so when the credits come you may think more favourably of the writing ... Read More:

Michael Keaton is the real star of this. His performance as James Jesus Angleton is nearly as good as that of Alec Guinness playing George Smiley. Not so sure about Chris O'Connell. He does not age well as has been already noted in another review. I can understand though why he was chosen to play the part. He has always played squeaky clean characters as in 'Scent of a woman', and 'Dead Poets Society'. There are some differences to the book and I'm sure at least one major character does not appear. Possibly reading the book first would help understand the plot but then you would know who the mole is so I would recommend watching this first. A useful book to read before this would be 'The very best men' by Evan Thomas, as it would provide good background ... Read More:

As above. I'm referring to the 1960s TV show, not the comics. The first two Burton spectaculars, for all their grand gothicness, missed this connection totally and didn't even introduce us to Robin. So this film was a welcome addition to the series and set its own tone completely. The viewers who don't like it seem to be mostly judging it on its breakaway from the first two movies, and not on its own merits. I think the director did a grand job and the casting was perfect. Kilmer made a great Batman, showing more human vulnerability and even naivete through his caped crusader guise than the stiffer, darker, more concealed Keaton did. Although this movie is short enough to have been in it's entirety on ONE side; it has been SPLIT in half and you have to flip the disc over to view the whole movie.

The ONLY advantage this DVD has over the US/Canada version (which is in it's entirety on ONE side) is that this DVD is Anamorphic Widescreen (whereas the US/Canada version is NON-Anamorphic Widescreen).

I gotta say this movie aint the worst movie ever but it aint the best either. From most review the reviewer will say this movie sucks because the Batsuit has nipples and Batman mentions Superman and has a Bat credit card. George Clooney isnt that good as Batman but Chris O Donnel is good at being Robin. Arnie as mr freeze is just great fun i mean everyone will disagree with this but i rather like his jokes theyre good fun at times theyre only hated because they have something to do with ice. Anyway this film great for kids and good if your not a hard core Batman fan like me. So all in all i say if your a hard core Bat fan ignore this film but if not its OK

No matter how many times I watch this film, the charm of it's excessive sentimentality never fails to draw me in. This film is engaging and warm-hearted, bringing us into the life of Evelyn, a gentle and good-natured Southern woman who is going through the menopause, played by Kathy Bates. After going with her husband to a local retirement home to visit one of his relatives, Evelyn meets and befriends an elderly woman named Mrs. Threadgoode, played by Jessica Tandy.

The way in which the film seamlessly flits between past and present is admirable.
