Stephen Fry`s autobiography is astonishingly frank, very funny and tremendously touching by turns - his life of crime is treated with a frankness which seeks no sympathy and the torments of adolescense leave no stone unturned. Throughout we feel that Stephen is talking to us as the sort of erudite yet unselfconscious companion one would love to spend time with of an evening in a firelit country pub. I hope it won`t be too much longer before the sequel comes out!

What a delight,I loved it .The storyline is wonderful so is Rosie herself. A slightly outrageous, whacky mature !!!lady who is not going down without a fight and is determined to live life to the full, even if it does`nt meet with all of her family`s approval. Whoever heard of a lady that age getting herself arrested, running away from home, then turning up on her grandsons doorstep, and what a great relationship they have. There are so many surprises in this book.Alan Titchmarsh has done it again.
I have had this book lying around for a while and never really got around to reading it, recently started reading it and can't believe it took me so long!!
I do not understand the complaints people have about this book - So far complaints regarding the language used, and the violence? That's part of the story. An ex-SAS soldier set and and being hunted down to be killed, it wouldn't be action without these.
Very fast paced at times and enjoyable to read, will make sure i get the other books within this set.

I have always loved this classic story, and was going to read it to my children when they were old enough. Imagine my joy at finding this excellent BBC production. which we then sat around listening to at home. My kids were enchanted just as I was.

I spent years looking for a book that would make me forget everything around me and I finally found this. Golding's story is absolutely gripping and of huge interest as it explores the dark depths of human nature. Here you can see how humanity disintegrates outside formal social bounderies.

A change in direction with not only retirement but marriage proposals as well for my most loved fictional character. With all of the Fairacre books, a book I have read over and over - only with particular sadness as it appears that this may be the final book. I found the illustrations a bit off putting - part of my love of Miss Read's books are due to J Goodall's beautiful illustrations - not that these are bad, just not what previous readers may be used to. My only complaint is that it is too short!

Mansfield park is definitely not Austen's most thrilling novel and this is not a particularly flamboyant adaptation but there is something relaxing and very charming about this radio adaptation. It makes the story very accessable and you can't help but like the endlessly hard done by herione Fanny Price. If you're looking for easy, relaxing and less known Austen this is for you. If you're looking for high drama or a lot of romance, in my opinion, this isn't for you.
