This book is great, there is a big wide world out there and dipping into this when you have 5 minutes you are sure to find something to excite and interest you.
Obviously its not a guide book in the true sense but there are some fantastic sound bite nuggets in there that have inspired about 5 years worth of future holidays for me.

I have used this map for two trips around NZ, and will use it again for my third trip later this year as it is still in great condition considering the daily folding and unfolding that you inevitably do as you travel the length and breadth of this fantastic country. As it is small and lightweight it is ideal just to tuck in your suitcase or backpack no need to carry a big bulky map around.
A must for any NZ traveller, at a reasonable price.

I can't believe that the best feature of this map isn't made clear in the description. It is made of polyester film, therefore it is all but indestructible. Rain, clumsy folding or stuffing into pockets/handbags will do nothing to dim the brilliance of this fine map.
A clear enough scale to read all the street names, without being too large. Also, being indestructible, it can be folded and refolded to show just the part of town you are in (or searching for!)
There are only a couple of minor gripes. Firstly, the map would be better if it extended a way further north, as only half of Montmartre is shown. Secondly, the Metro plan is too small to read easily, and covers only the city centre.

This guide was ok and I read it before departing to south america, where I went to Peru, Chile and Boliva and it provided some good information but it wasn't as detailed as the footprint guide, which is the one we ended up taking. If you are visiting one main country in South America it's best to get a specific guide for that country. Generally useful to help you decide which countries you want to visit but not very in depth.

I found this small and inexpensive guide to be very helpful when I was narrowing down places to visit and things to do on a short visit to New Zealand earlier this year. It does what it says on the cover.
It is certainly no substitute for longer and more detailed guide books (and I consulted several including Lonely Planet's main NZ guide and a couple of more specialised walking guides).
However, where it does score is as a means of identifying some great options. Without this guide book I probably would not have bothered with a side-trip that turned out to be one of the highlights of three months away from the UK.
I also bought and benefited from its sister Australian 25 Ultimate Experiences guide (also recommended by ... Read More:
