I bought this book only for one reason - to pass an upcoming June 2008 ACCA Paper P3 'Business Strategy' exam. And I did! I had only 9 days allocated for this paper so my only hope was this book. Its language is very understandable, though sometimes I felt that material is too much detailed (maybe because I hadn't much time).

With the book you receive access to an online content. At that time the content was incomplete and was partly lacking business case scenarios, but the tests module was perfect. For every chapter you have many multiple-choice questions and all your answers and results are being recorded. So you can easily see where an improvement required. Exceptional Cakes: Baker & Spice

Like the previous reviewer, I ordered both 'baking with passion' and 'exceptional cakes' at the same time. I was quite annoyed until I tried the recipes and then I was blown away. We've tried almost half of the recipes from 'exceptional cakes' and without fail the instructions are clear, concise and the cakes are AMAZING. We are working our way through them all and haven't found one we didn't like!!! They might seems complicated and time consuming when you read the instructions but follow them step by step and the results are the same as the illustrations. I would definately recommend this book....and I just gave the other one to a friend!!!

Exceptional Breads: Baker & Spice

This is not an expensive book, which is it's good point so I don't feel hard done by , but I know I'm never going to use it. The ingredients are too high brow for me here in the country, I'm never going to be able to get "00 Italian flour " or the like in the shops here abouts, and I understand why he wants bottle spring water for the dough but it's not what you'd call environmentally friendly. I was hoping for something that had a broader span of bread, but this is very much the expensive Deli end.

Yes, this is the best of them all, forget all the others don't even look at them, they're not worth a second glance.

I first started reading an earlier edition of this over 5 years ago after seeing someone else with it but it was big and bulky and I found it hard to carry around. At that tme I was an AAT student.

Five years on now struggling with TOPCIMA, a management accountancy exam, I bought this latest edition out of desperation and its absolutely fantastic. In between I've been ploughing through Porter's strategy books which are excellent, but this one beats those hands down. There's a wealth of information and case studies all clearly set out and easy to read. Added to this is the on line resource which is really useful. ... Read More:

I used this book as main textbook on one of the units on my universtiy and I have to say that it is one of only few course books that I would recommend. It is well written in terms of structure and explaining the specific terms. It also contains many nice case studies that can help you see how the theory works in practice. Strong recommendation to all business-related students.

I found this book to be invaluable during the Strategic Management module of my DMS. Not only was it informative, but it actually made the subject interesting (a course text book that is hard to put down!?!). The case studies are in themselves of interest and they relate very nicely to the concepts that are introduced. During my written assignment (which I passed easily) I drew heavily on the concepts and ideas introduced in this publication, which includes a wide variety of references from other recognised authors that I also found very useful.
Now I am studying for the Marketing module of my DMS, and this book is even helping with this, as it helps relate strategy to marketing.
I think anyone taking a DMS or MBA will find this book invaluable.

The book is only 150 pages long but allocate twice as much time as you would expect to read it. The first reason is that it's been written by an academic and they have their own writing style which some of us take time to adjust to. The second reason is that its easy to get confused and you have to read it slowly. It starts with four different perspectives on strategy and refers to them throughout the book as consistent reference points. Once I had written down the four perspectives and added notes to each as I read the book it became a whole lot easier.

Thoughout the book the author tried to take an independent view of the four different perspectives but occasionally his preferences showed though. I think that he was right to take this viewpoint and ... Read More:
