This book does exactly what it says, providing all the poetry you will need for literacy and more. I use it for most of my poetry ideas as it lists all the genres and provides good variety.
Only bought this a few weeks ago but already well loved and written on to remind me which poems to use for certain word and sentence level work as well as particular genres. I will be buying the other books in this series as i am keen to find out what else there is to offer in this poetry collection that is so well tuned to the needs of teaching.

A great book, and a useful resource for primary teachers, but it's such a shame Allan Ahlberg wasn't one of the poets featured, his children's poems are fantastic.

What a great book for parents to share with their kids. Described as performance poetry and written by guys who really understand kids, the poems in this 'Best of ...' collection are funny, yet amazingly real. We sat down at the dinner table and took turns reading them out. What a great way for kids to learn to read out loud...and to read poetry at that!

As a teacher myself, I particularly enjoyed the poems about school life. This is the book to read if you want to find out why dinner ladies are more scary than headteachers.

Christmas is great! Poetry is great too! Funny is great as well! All together they are absolutely brilliant! This book is well set out, beautifully and wittily illustrated and greatly written. I just love it. It covers everything from the true Christmas story to wish lists to Santa, from Festive Food to Crackers on Christmas morning and how exciting it is (not) to pull them! I just love this book! My favourite poem is called `Things I Do Not Want to Meet under the Mistletoe' and it is superbly written by 12 year old Sam Cookson. I would rate this poem 9/ 10 and I would overall rate this book 6/ 10.
