this book is ok, i suppose it is the only choice if u r doing the aqa
syllabus, only a few bad points, first few chapters there are practically no worked examples, at the end of each chapter there are
some summary questions with the answers at the back of the book,
sometimes i dont know how on earth did they arrive at that answer because
they dont have worked examples to help u,i had to ask teacher to explain how they got the answers.
Its only the last few units, they have some worked examples.
Also they put examination style questions, but no answers for that too,
so u dont know if you are right or wrong unless u get the teacher
to explain to u

This is another quality Physics text book and I am keeping it to take to university with me. However this is not a revison guide, it has loads of information and is mostly too in depth for the OCR syllabus.
Unfortunately the book doesn't have any of the OCR option modules. Since all OCR students have to do a Cosmosology or Medicine or Telecommunications etc module you would think they would have featured inside this book.

I bought this book in part because I was interested in the worked solutions CD-ROM. Useful for thinking about how to present the material I thought.
Book arrives. No disc.
I rang the publishers, who said they wanted another £48 for the disc.

This is a balanced and well-written introduction to the subject.
It is to the author's credit that this relatively short book manages to cover a large number of areas in reasonable depth. Maths are kept to simple GCSE/Standard-Grade level, and the book balances factual content with readability very well.
Given the size and cost limitations of the 'Teach Yourself' format, this is an excellent book.

This comprehensive revision guide is currently helping me greatly with my A-Level Physics revision. It is full of detailed and easy to read notes, which are split up into small specific sections - this makes it easier to find the precise information that you are required to know. Numerous exam questions from various boards are provided both at the end of every section, and in the form of a mock exam at the end of the book; each question also tells you which exam boards' syllabi it applies to.
Its coverage of all A-Level syllabi means that it is suitable for all students, and the authors have provided a guide showing which topics are required for each syllabus. This excellent coverage is also the book's main weakness, however, as despite ... Read More:

Well, it's certainly nicely illustrated, easy on the eyes and clear. However, it's very much written in a rote learning style. It simply tells you that phenomena occur, without telling you anything about why this is or how we know it. If you just want to memorize and don't really care about understanding, then it will suit you fine.
