This much-loved classic is my 10-month old boy's favourite. We deliberately went for the hardback version with board pages, which is capable of withstanding the inevitable bashing it receives better than the paperback version. (The flaps are thin card - hardly indestructible but sturdy enough to require some considerable effort to tear.)
Like the review above, I was mildly concerned about the repetition of the word "no" throughout the book, but that's just how the book is and the most important thing is that my son loves interacting with it, always attacking each flap with gusto to see what's underneath it, and that's the most important thing really.

My littl girl adores this book. There are loasd of "lift the flaps" for her to explore and the entire content is suitable for her with animals, shapes, colours etc. The only down side is that it is a paper book rather than board so some of the flaps are getting creased, also some of the flaps are very near to the spine of the book meaning that you have to be careful to make sure the flap is fully closed before you can turn the page without creasing the flap. Even so, I still think this book is a very worhwhile book for a toddler to have.

Meet Spot and his father, Sam, as they go to the farm to look for baby animals. You can learn some names of baby farm animals like, Lambs, which are baby sheep, Foals, which are baby horses and Calves, which are baby cows. But none of those little animals are at the farm: only their parents are - which baby animals are there? Find out in this great book...
Eric Hill, the author of this book, has become very well known for his `Spot' series which were started in the early 1980's. Spot is also known as `the World's Favourite Puppy' as he is an all time favourite Pre School character and probably will forever be.
I would rate this book 7/10 although it is not very suitable for me but more appropriate for children aged 3 - 7. It has ... Read More:

My mother-in-law bought this for my daughter when she was 3 and it was money well spent. Somehow Spot grabs a young childs attention like almost no other character. She loves this book, especially the flaps, which like all spot books are tough enough to withstand some serious pulling!

This is a brilliant book. Has nursery rhymes that are familiar to mom. The words are on the page while the sound buttons provide the music. Mom and baby will enjoy singing along to this one. Buttons are easy to press. My son (14 months) is able to activate the sounds himself. He brings his book to me and says 'Ba-Ba'. He wants me to sing for him 'Ba-Ba Black sheep'. I love the fact that the book has the song 'Polly put the kettle on' because this is one of the familiar ones from his favourite television programme, Barney & friends. Children will love the bright colours of the book. The hard board pages make it a great buy since little hands won't be tearing pages off.

The book is great. My son enjoys it. The problem I have with it is that the pages are not board pages but soft pages. At his age (14 months) he is liable to tear the pages long before he gets any mileage out of the book. The sounds are wonderful and he is fascinated by them. The dog picture (of Spot) should have barked like a dog. That's how children learn. In this book the picture of spot has a laughing sound to it which is funny but doesn't teach the child the sound of a dog.
