Not Now Bernard (Mini Treasure)

I adore this book and it has been cherished and read again and again for my 2 daughters. They found the idea of Bernard's parents not noticing he'd turned into a monster very funny and not at all sad or scary. I personally don't think there is any sinister message here - all kids know of the feeling of being ignored by their parents at some point in their lives!!

Elmer the colourful elephant is made to feel ashamed for his differences, and covers his `true colours', as he is dazzling a patchwork of colours instead of being grey. In order to blend in, Elmer paints himself grey, but sooner after the other elephants literally see through his disguise as it washes off in front of them. Elmer is ridiculed, but it isn't long before they all see the errors of their ways and decide to celebrate his rainbow colours by decorating themselves in a similar fashion to Elmer.

Elmer's Colours (Elmer)

This book has beautiful pictures and it's very colourful. The book is nice and glossy, so it's easy to clean if it gets a bit dirty. The board is quite robust but not too thick, so it's easy for the baby to turn the pages themselves, as long as you raise it a bit so they can grip it. My 11 month old son loves this book. The only downside of it is that the text reads quite oddly, e.g. 'Yellow is a lemon', rather than 'A lemon is yellow'. It's like Yoda-speak, all backwards!

If you make up your own words it's 5 out of 5 and even though the text doesn't make sense the pictures alone are so attractive that it's worth 4 stars.

Excellent and colourful book, my 6 month old son loves it, apparently it taste good as well from the amount of time it spends in his mounth. But he did manage to seperate the front cover from the rest of the book in under a week. Alicia Panday Hong Kong

Elmer and Wilbur (Book & CD)

This is a lovely book. The story is very amusing and the CD is beautifully read. Its particularly handy for those nights when you haven't got the engergy for several bedtime stories! Plus my 4yr old loves the version which dings when its time to turn the page as he can hold the book and do everything himself. Highly recommended.

Elmer in the Snow (Elmer) (Book and CD)

Meet everyone's favourite patchwork in another great adventure. See how he teaches his friends to enjoy the snow when the other elephants think that it is cold in the hot jungle even though it is only a teeny weenie bit chilly. They get to go ice skating on the frozen pond; they get a chance to they make snow elephants; and last but certainly not least, they make snow balls and have great snow ball fights. The other huge grumpy mammals learn that the jungle is not very cold at all and they change their minds. I love this book; it is beautifully illustrated; the subject interesting; all the great characters are lovable,specially Elmer.

I teach guitar to children aged 8+ and this is a fantastic book. Alot of the songs are already familiar to children and all the lyrics as suitable for children.

The book progresses gradually through the common open position chords (major, minor, sevenths).

Some of the fingerstyle might be a bit advanced for young learners but for easy to follow songs for young children, this book takes some beating.

Elmer and the Lost Teddy (Elmer)

If you are an Elmer fan, then this is a particularly charming tale of a lost teddy and Elmer's search for it. Baby Elephant is sad because he has lost his teddy and so Elmer kindly lends him his own, an Elmer-patterned teddy that stands out from the teddy crowd. before setting off through the jungle to find Baby Elephants own. On the way he passes many of the jungle animals settling down clutching a teddy bear before he finds and returns Baby Elephant's. Elmer's cousin Wilbur is concerned that Baby Elephant will want to keep the brightly coloured patchwork bear because it is so unusual but Baby Elephant is delighted to be reunited with his own ordinary brown bear.

Elmer's Friends (Elmer)

This is another firm favourite from the Elmer series of board books. The book looks at lots of Elmer’s animal friends from Zebra to Lions and Polar Bears to Snakes - Elmer loves them all. With a little imagination you can make the book come alive even more. For example doing the hissing sound for the snake or the roar for the lion. When you get to the page with the kangaroo don't forget to bounce the book up and down. The final pages show all the animals and our little one points to each animal as we say their name thus reinforcing recognition. The board book is very robust and able to withstand lots of rough treatment. The colours are very bright and our little one responds very well to this book - five star fun!
