Darren Shan's Demonata series is one which i always eagerly await each instalment of, his skills of storytelling and building of tension keeping you hooked to his every word. With each book, the events of the desperate battle between humans and demons become more and more epic, the sacrifices needing to be made growing ever larger.
Previous book Death's Shadow demonstrated these themes perfectly and with Wolf Island, we now see the events running parallel to that book. We return to Grubbs' point of view as he, Meera and Shark set out to uncover the mystery of werewolves on the loose. Fans of the series will already be aware of the shadowy organisation known as the Lambs and this book sheds some ... Read More:

This is the 12th book in the series and probably the best so far. Some of the Demonata books were shallow and dull, this was a cracker, Darren SHan was born in London in 1972 and moved to Ireland when he was 6 years old, where he has lived ever since. He started out writing books for adults, and managed to get a couple published. One day, on a whim,he decided to try a book for children. The result was Cirque Du Freak. The rest is history to his real fans

Grubbs Grady is back, and he wishes he wasn't.
There are two things that Grubbs regrets the most: letting his transformation take away the lives of the ones he loved, and trusting Juni. When we last left him, Grubbs was on a plane ride with Juni, who promised to take care of him and love him. But while on board, Juni's true colors appeared, and they weren't so pretty.
Turns out she had been working for Lord Loss and had used Grubbs' secrets and trust against him, lying to not only him but also to Dervish, who had fallen for her as well.
Now Grubbs is trying to fend for himself, which isn't looking so bright since Lord Loss' little helpers are happily feeding on the passengers on the plane, while Lord Loss ... Read More:

From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, ... Read More:

In Hunters of the Dusk, Darren, Harket and Mr Crepsley head off to find the Lord of the Vampeneze Lord as the War of the Scars rages. In Allies of the Night, Darren and the gang are reunited with some old faces as Darren goes back to school and in Killers of the Dawn, Darren must find a way to defeat the Vampeneze Lord and rescue his friend.
These three novels by author Darren Shan are the three most consistently written stories out of the entire twelve and have that cutting excitement that was always vital to create a dark and dramatic story about a Vampire.
Book 7 Hunters takes a while to get going as the background is once again established and we learn of Darren's dealings as the new vampire prince. Hunters is filled with mystery and a great uncertainty surrounding ... Read More:
