This book is so fantastic I bought another slow cooker, great at dinner parties, prepare 2 different curries which then just cook up some rice and put some naans in the oven, everyone says they are as good as a takeaway at a fraction of the cost and less stressful than trying to work out what everyone has ordered.
i've keep going back to chicken curry with red lentils (chicken dhansak), its fantastic and so easy to prepare.
definately recommend this recipe book bought another slow cooker book at the same time and this book knocks spots off those boring veggie recipes

I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years, surviving on pizza & ready meals & have just started living with a meat-eater, what do i do??!! i bought this book a couple of months ago & already i need a replacement as mine is so dog-eared & covered in goodness knows what ingredients! It has a fabulous choice of tasty, easy to cook recipes that are cheap to make. Mine & my friends' favourites are the Oriental Tuna casserole & my boyfriend's is the Hungarian Goulash, and as he's half Hungarian i was so very proud to be able to make this for him, i didn't let on how easy it was!! It's also such excellent value for money it would be criminal not buy it!

Confession: I've only tried the first recipe - for basic bread.
But it's SO good I don't want to venture further just yet!
I've had hits and misses before with my Panasonic breadmaker and gluten-free bread flour, so I decided to try this book.
The first thing is that the recipes do NOT use *bread* flour - instead they use gluten-free flour to which you add xanthum gum (which is easy to buy, eg Tesco's). Maybe this is what makes the difference, or maybe I'm just being more careful with measuring. Probably it's both.
Anyway the net result is that the bread really is good. I'm sufficiently encouraged now to attempt some of the other recipes soon.
This recipe book is a superb addition to anyone's culinary library - clearly not every recipe will suit every person but it is inconceivable that you would not find a significant number of useful recipes in here and even if you found just one nugget, then considering the price, it would be well worth it.
I actually used this book quite heavily at first and have done so on a regular basis ever since. And still do.
The variety of recipes in this and the rest of the 1000 series is simply staggering - to say you are stuck for choice is an understatement.
Ok, so there are no photographs but against that, the books don't cost a fortune either and they are compact.
You really cannot go wrong with any ... Read More:

I LOVE this book. It's really small, so it fits into any of my handbags, and also, it tells you the calories in portion sizes as well. I bought a calorie book before this one, and it had everything in 100gram portions, which made it extremely difficult to work out how much you were eating. This book has nearly everything in, right down to 'gazpachio'. There is also space at the end of each letter of the alphabet to enter in your own foods and nutrition content if they aren't already in there. I would definitely recommend this! My only concern with it is that there are no page numbers, despite there being a contents page and page referances!

I bought this book quite a while ago but have only recently got the cooking bug! A great variety of recipes, nicely separated into different chapters according to what eqipment you need to make them, e.g. one pan, 2 pans + grill, whole kitchen, etc.
A few complaints though, I would prefer some simpler recipes, needing fewer ingredients, so there is no need to buy things you would only use once or twice. Also, there are no pictures in this book, which I like to have so I know my food looks like it should, without having to rely on just the recipe instructions.

The variety of recipes in the 1000 series is simply staggering - to say you are stuck for choice is an understatement. And there is a vegetarian section in this too which is an extremely useful feature.

Got bits of leftovers lurking in tupperware at the back of the fridge? Bung 'em in the freezer before it's too late! This book will tell you how... Really useful for busy bees who are too tight to waste stuff :)
