I have read all Mcnab's books including the Nick Stone series and I feel this was this the Most disapointing. The action takes ages to get going, and before you know it your half way through and nothing exciting has happened. and when it does it is in short bursts with lots of waffle in between.
I love all the other books but I think maybe McNab has become abit Lazy and is relying on his name to sell. I hope the next book is a return to form.

Not a lot going for this book. The author spends a lot of time explaining what broken and lost people some of his former comrades in arms are (most of this is described in other books by the people involved), and that war wrecks peoples lives so perhaps they need professional help. Not exactly news to anyone, one might think.

All what was making McNab great in his first books is back again. Back at the top. To the joy of all those who read his books.
Recommended.
And waiting impatiently for the next one.

Bravo Two Zero was my first book of the military genre which I must admit i've NEVER been particularly interested in.
I've heard various people say how good of a read the story is and due to this I read many reviews on Amazon.
After lots of hints my girlfriend bought me this book and I know it's a bad cliche but I genuinely could not put it down.
McNab starts off with a little about his personal life, which barely scratches the surface and goes on to talk / write about his regiment leaving the barracks for the Gulf War.
A massive amount of detail goes into the planning of the mission which I found fascinating as a "civvie" and even though there's a LOT of army / military abbreviations and acronyms there's ... Read More:

Ex-service man, Andy McNab delivers an uplifting story about an everyday man, Kevin Dodds who has a steady job in the bank and his wife works as a Bingo caller. Kevin becomes fed up with his useless boss after he smugly refused him time off for his wedding anniversary, so to get his own back and decides to pull of a elaborate bank heist, single handedly!
A very quick and very satisfying read, highly recommended. It made a four hour train journey fly by!

The third instalment of the Boy soldier series brings excitement and intensity on a new level to this action packed series by Andy McNab and Robert Rigby.
Danny, Elena and Fergus are all working for the mysterious Deveraux to find Black Star, an internet mastermind who sends teenagers to their own deaths.
Its so far the best of the Boy Solider (I have just started Meltdown, the 4th book) with so much better writing and intensity than the previous 2, which is my personal favourite convention of a novel.
McNab again using his experience and knowledge, though there are less technical operations in place and it's a lot more character focused, especially on Elena and Black Star, and having it more character based will allow the ... Read More:

In the sequel to Boy Solider, Danny and his grandfather are still on the run and as he enemies draw in, they find their answers may lie in London and as the mystery gets deeper so do the pair as they are caught in even more danger.
Payback is just as stimulating and tense as Andy McNab's previous novel Boy Solider with energy and action around every corner as he brings his military days to this exciting adventure.
McNab again uses very technical terms for procedures for his central characters and situations, which makes the plot more interesting.
This book is more character driven than Boy Solider, which I believe is a good thing as we can feel what the characters are going through. I'm glad to say that Elena features more in this book ... Read More:
I have had this book lying around for a while and never really got around to reading it, recently started reading it and can't believe it took me so long!!
I do not understand the complaints people have about this book - So far complaints regarding the language used, and the violence? That's part of the story. An ex-SAS soldier set and and being hunted down to be killed, it wouldn't be action without these.
Very fast paced at times and enjoyable to read, will make sure i get the other books within this set.

Before reading this book i had already read Chris Ryan's "The one that got away" and Andy's "Bravo Two Zero", after reading both of those i wondered if i could find a better book..... I did!! this book has to be one of the best war/sas books i have ever read, i totally recommend this book to everyone who is interested in the SAS or any other military based interests.
