Very special book, very special bear :)
Great rendition, though I must admit, I prefer having the individual books! (Maybe one day I shall have...)

This is a lovely set of books. Beautiful illustrations. Lovely stories. I bought them for my daughter aged one who is very much into the pocket libraries. She is not as impressed as me but I am confident she will grow into them. At the moment she prefers the Noddy and Dr.Seuss Pocket libraries as these are Lift the Flap.

The only reason for reading this book is that it is by the author of Winnie the Pooh and instead of being set in the Hundred Acre Wood, we have a dead body in a study at the Red House. According to the blurb 'where secret passages, uninvited guests, a sinister valet and a puzzling murder' lay the foundation for a classic crime.
I started this with high hopes, but oh deary me, after about twenty pages I could feel my attention wandering and I really had to force myself to sit down and finish this as I found the dialogue and pace gradually becoming banal and slow.
We have a murder in a study - Anthony Gillingham, a sub-Lord Peter Wimsey man about town, clean cut and with grey eyes 'asbsorbing every detail of our person' ... Read More:

I was not a fan of Winnie the Pooh. I found it hard to disassociate it from the horrible Disneyfication, but when a long car journey loomed, this was the only CD available and ploughing through fog and heavy rain, it amused not only the children, but me as well. Alan Bennett is great and repeated listens are not as irritating as expected. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.

Bought these editions of "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" for my mother as it was a favourite book of hers when she was young. They are beautifully produced with the original Shepherd drawings very tastefully painted in in watercolours. Printed on pale yellow pages with a quality book binding. Overall these have a lovely feel and lovers of these rhymes will not be disappointed. I am very pleased I chose these editions and so is Mum!

Having grown up with the classic poems in this book, and its slightly lesser known companion volume "Now We Are Six", and knowing that it's of my oldest posessions, it's hard to describe how it feels to now be revisiting its battered pages and reading them to my own children, but I rarely read them out loud without an enormous lump in my throat. It's a testimony to the timelessness of Milne's work that its as universally loved by them as it was by me at their age. There's something about his style that paints such a vivid picture of childhood that the reader is irresistably swept up by the imaginative and colourful landscape of Milne's writing. Some of these poems have become famous in their own right - 'Buckingham Palace' , 'Halfway Down' 'The King's Breakfast' ... Read More:
