My son was born 14 weeks early and I used to have to express milk for him using a hospital pump for the 12 weeks he was in hospital. As he didn't take to breastfeeding I decided to buy this pump for home use so that I could express milk for his feeds. In retrospect I wish I'd hired a more heavy duty pump for use at home as this gave up on me after 11 weeks of use. I was expressing 5-6 times a day and the motor unit just ended up going funny. There is the option to use the manual attachments but if I'd wanted to express manually then I wouldn't have spent the extra on an electronic version! The motor unit also gets drops of milk in it and it is exremely difficult to clean and there is no advice in the booklet on the best way to clean the motor ... Read More:

I bought this "starter" kit for my newborn baby to give us everything we needed to feed our baby all in 1 kit (already have steriliser).
We have since moved onto:
- Tommee Tippee with Airvent Control
- Dr Browns
Baby was happy enough using the bottle, however there were a few drawbacks that sent this bottle firmly to the bottom of class.
1. It was very hard to get the teat in place particularly when you are trying so hard not to contaminate the sterilised teat.
2. The bottle had a habit of leaking because it was so hard to get the teat in place.
3. There is no airvent control meaning that you get air bubbles in the milk and a windy baby.
4. A more minor point - if you fill the bottle with ... Read More:

I found this very easy to use, take apart and reassemble. It was comfortable and it looks nice. However, it was squeaky until it had been through the steam steriliser 8 or 10 times which was very off putting for a first-timer. It also drips when you take it off so you need to make sure you have a cloth handy to stop you getting milk on your clothes. That said, it is a very good pump and you can pop the full bottles straight in the freezer if you want. Do use the white bottle stands for the newborn size bottles otherwise it falls over when you put it down! I would recommend this to a friend.

We bought this product assuming that a digital thermometer by a well known brand would be extremely accurate. Our old bath thermometer that changed colour according to the temperature was becoming harder to read, but we'd always found it really easy to use - it had a +, - or a tick. We were surprised to find that when the new Avent thermometer was showing 37 deg C the old one would show a + (ie. too hot). We assumed that the old one just wasn't very accurate, and that we must have been making the bath too cold. When our boys (at the time one was 4 months, the other 2 years) complained that the water was too hot. It felt quite warm but we assumed it was because we'd been used to making the bath too cold. In the meantime we were quite annoyed that ... Read More:

For most of us, the microwave is just another cupboard, getting used a few minutes a day for zapping veges. So why waste bench space with an electric steriliser, when you can just park one in the microwave?
This unit's easy to use - the slots are marked so that you know which ones are for bottles, teats etc (though after a week you'll just pile stuff in!). The lid is tall enough to take the big avent bottles (so if you have Medela bottles they'll fit too).
Alas, we ran ours without water a couple of times by accident, so the basket's got a bit warped.
One star off for not making it easier to gauge the water level - why not put a marking line in the bowl rather than fiddling with measuring?
Still, four minutes on full power, two minutes ... Read More:

Really easy to use, looks attractive and doesn't take up much room. Not by any means an essential but it does make heating up frozen breast milk a doddle (even dad can manage a feed this way!) and I'm sure I will say the same about frozen food when I get round to that stage. Just remember to check the temperature of the milk before giving it to baby - I have occasionally heated it up too much and it gets very hot indeed.

We bought the IQ24 2 months before the birth of our baby boy. We didn't actually unpack and start using it until he was born. The idea that you can leave items in the steriliser for up to 24 hours, with the unit repeating its cycle every 6 hours sounds good at first. However, in practice it just doesn't work out like that. Our son wanted feeding at least every 4 hours, sometimes every two hours. So we'd take a bottle out of the steriliser to make a feed, but then we'd have to set a cycle running again since we'd opened the lid and the other items were then considered no longer sterile. We also found that we had to keep topping up the water level to 200ml quite often. I suppose we could have left it to run automatically when it reached the next 6 hour milestone, ... Read More:
We've had this product for over a year now and no complaints so far. It works really well and has helped our daughter sleep comfortably through the night when she has a cold or cough. Cleaning it is a bit tricky and it does scale up quickly but that's all I can think of as a negative. It'll probably break down next week after all this praise ;)
