Medela Swing Breastpump

Until recently I had been using a manual pump which I found to be a bit hit and miss- sometimes I could express fine with it, other times it didn't work for me. I have found this electric pump to be really good, it works for me every time, is pretty quiet and whats more no more aching hand from the manual pumping- hurrah! I've also been impressed at the speed at which this works, I can express the amount that I need in around 15 mins which means I'm free to carry on with my day. Its really easy to keep clean and sterilised too- with the manual pump I had there were lots of fiddly bits to wash but this one is pretty straightforward. Wish I had purchased one of these sooner...

Pump and Save Breast Milk Bags

I used these for 3 months for expressing. I was having to express about 5 times a day and some of it went into these bags and then into the freezer. They were easy to use, didn't leak or overflow, and defrosted nicely in the fridge when needed. Highly recommended if you are using a Medela Breat Pump and need freezer storage.

Medela Supplemental Nursing System

This is a good idea. I personally had to topup my baby with perscription formula milk so to stop teat confusion this was the tool to use for me. Your baby gets what is in the supplemental nursing system and breast milk at the same time so it keeps your milk supply up or boosts your milk supply up, as baby is stimulating the breast to keep them producing milk. It is a bit fiddley to use at 1st but once you get the hang of it its great. I'd recommend this if you'd like or need to topup and keep your baby soley on the breast and also avoid teat/nipple confusion as giving baby a bottle while breast feeding too early can cause teat/nipple confusion.

i have a cheap breast pump (snow bear) which works a lot better than this, it has a harder suction.

i think this is not worth the hype!!!!

Medela Mini Electric Breast Pump

I have found this pump to be very much better than any other I have used, although due to the nature of this product type, most women do not have a great deal to compare it to. The pump is a little slower than I had imagined (better on mains than batteries) and it is rather noisy. However, covering it slightly with a duvet for instance does help if you want to watch the television. I think it's possible that my baby does actually like the sound however! One small problem I have had is in taking it apart - the yellow valve needs a lot of grip and force from your thumb and index finder and in truth I have had to ask my partner to help with the sterilisation because of this.
