BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor

I've been using this monitor for 4 months now and am very happy with it.

It's easy to setup and use. The sound quality is good and it's loud enough to hear baby rolling over even when you have the TV on in the evening. Battery life is fine for me as the parent monitor can be carried round for about 8 hrs without needing to be re-charged (I only use it from 7pm until I go to bed so thats fine for me).

I have used the torch but only to check what time it is in the middle of the night when the baby wakes up crying ! Otherwise I am not sure I will ever use the extra features that the BT150 has over the BT100 but overall I'm very happy with it and would recommend BT baby monitors.

I was in two minds whether or not to buy this because of all the bad reviews about it being inaccurate, but I thought 'What the heck, I can always send it back'. I'm so glad I took the risk because this little gadget is great! It looks brilliant, giving a lovely soft glow to the nursery and the colours are a great visual indicator of the temperature which save you stumbling around in the dark trying to peer at a non-light up one. On the subject of the thermometer being inaccurate, I have to say it is definately not a problem with my egg as I have compared it to an extreamly accurate thermocouple thermometer and they always read no more than 0.1 of a degree apart. This is a great product, and we bought it for our first baby. She was only 5 days old when the alarm went off and when we picked her up she was breathing but shallowly, and she was on the cool side despite being well wrapped up. We took her straight to hospital and they kept her in for 3 days, lots of tests, and ultimately diagnosed her as fit and well, but there was no explanation apart from it was 'a newborn thing' and she may well have been fine anyway. The thing is we will never know what might have happened had we not been alerted by the monitor, so I thank my lucky stars each day that I bought it. BT 100 Digital Baby Monitor

After the great success of the old BT digital monitor we bought 3 years ago for our daughter, we did not hesitate to buy the new version for our baby son.

Whilst all the features are great and we cannot find another monitor with everything this monitor has to offer at such a reasonable price, after a few weeks the monitor developed a fault - the parent unit will now only link to the child unit when held directly next to it!

BT were of no help (they ignore emails to their help address and the adviser on the phone just told us to swap for a new model).

However, reading other reviews I think we will be looking elsewhere for something more reliable.

Tomy Walkabout Platinum Digital Baby Monitor

We'd had a very reliable Tomy monitor for our first child and thought we'd stick with Tomy for our second, five years after the first. While the first Tomy monitor we'd had was very reliable with excellent range, the Tomy Platinum frequently cuts out for no apparent reason and has a very limited range compared with the first, more basic model we owned (which had stopped working by the time we had our second child).

The sound quality is fine, the temperature is accurate but for the money you would expect this is a matter of course. There has to be a more reliable product around than this. On our experience we would highly recommend avoiding the Tomy Platinum.

The toys are bright and colourful. The music is not as good as it might be but i feel the mobile is busy and there are plenty of things to keep baby occupied

We bought this baby monitor for use while staying with my parents. We went for something cheap but have been very impressed with the quality of sound and range of this one. Worked well even though we were downstairs and several rooms away. Baby unit needs to be plugged in but parent unit can be plugged in or used in battery mode. You need to buy 3 AA batteries for it though.

I received this as a present for my son for his first Christmas when he was 4 months old.

I immediately had trouble strapping it to the cot as the plastic straps were just not up to the task of attaching to the sides of our cot. I worried about them coming undone and landing on my son in the night as the item is quite heavy.

Like most people have said on here, it's just too noisy to actually soothe your baby. I ended up using it as I was changing his nappy and getting him into his sleeping bag on his changing table rather than in his cot. Ordered on Tuesday morning, arrived, well packaged, on Wednesday morning.

There are many places where you simply pick up your own heartbeat which can be deceptive. If in doubt, use your spare hand to check the pulse it your neck and compare it to what you are hearing. As a guideline, your heartbeat should be roughly 60-90bpm whereas your baby's will more like 120-160bpm. It took me over an hour but I did eventually find my baby's heartbeat. You need to use plenty of gel and have the transducer in exactly the right place, at the right angle, so it can take some time.

For the price, you really cannot complain about the product, it is obviously not as effective as the one your midwife will use but it does work. If you cannot find your baby's heartbeat ... Read More:

we find the monitor does its job. can hear baby clearly. needs to be away from mobile phones though.night light ideal and enough to change a nappy by and check the small person! basicly you could spend alot more on something that will do the same job a bit more clearly but you get what you pay for!
