Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I was so scared i went to get a T-virus vaccination!
Your in a dark creepy mansion filled with ravenous zombies, undead dogs and strange crows who peck your eyes out, you have a cheap handgun with very little ammo and you and your crew do the least sensible thing you can do...split up!
Then again it wouldn't be survival horror if you didn't because it would be easy, especially when your freind is packing a nice magnum. But you do, making one the scariest games of all time.
Lots of murders are occuring in racoon city, people being eaten and its kinda suspicious, you'd think a tribe of canibbals would be easy to find so the s.t.a.r.s (special tactics and rescue squad i beleive) bravo team is sent to
investigate. when they don't return the alpha team is sent to find them and this is where it all kicks off. The team finds the crashed helecopter with the pilots corpse inside it, lousy canibbals! Then the get attacked by zombie dogs and they run the the nearby spencer mansion by now realising that the murderers definitely aren't canibbals... they're zombies OMG!
You can choose either Chris Redfield or Jill valentine for slightly different storylines. Chris is tougher but has less inventory space and has to come up agaist more zombies so he's for those who want even more challenge. As you go off your seperate ways to explore you'll notice that the graphics in game are as good as in the cutscenes, making them amongst the best in games ever. i've seen some xbox 360 games and these graphics are better, this is made possible by the prerendered backrounds. the only problem with this is that occasionly it can seem as though your character isn't touching the floor or object.
The sound though is amazing, no hitches, the voices, groans of zombies and the music is brilliant and able to calm you down or terrify you in different situations. e.g. the groan and footsteps of a zombie somewhere around you but you don't know where is incredibly creepy, while the chilled music in the drug room is perfect to cam you before diving back into the action for more.
The only problem in the game, other than the cheesy lines in the cutscenes and the strange lack of cutscenes..ahem..is the controls, you get used to them eventually but they're very clunky and tanklike and for some reason aiming up involves aiming at the ceiling until the zombie/crimson head(really scary super zombies) comes right up to you then firing.
I mentioned the lack of cutscenes, much of the story is told through journals and papers. one partuculary sinister one is by a man who is infected by the t-virus(or as i call it zombie syndrone) and towards the end his writings become childish and generally rubbish. He calls dogs doggies and speaks of how he killed his freind, ate bits of his flesh and his quite humourous last entry is merely 'itchy tasty'! If this isn't bad enough you then realise that the dead man next to the bed must be his dead freind. After this you start to wonder what could of become of the man who wrote the diary, suddenly he (i'm assuming its him) bursts out of a wardrobe and the corpse by the bed gets up, you know what happens next. Thats just one of the terrifying moments in store for you in Resident evil. My doggie need food but i eat food, itchy tasty!

Wow. What a Fantastic Game. Its recreates the whole genre of survival horror in a souped up version of the original game. Like the original there are scares aplenty and lots of pant filling moments with a few slight changes in the original story line. Take no notice of bad reviews for this game because they're wrong. BEST GAME EVER. Get out and purchase a copy! You wont regret it Gamecube Owners!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Exellent Graphics! great control player!
Believe it or not! this game is a remake of Resident evil 1! and Boy this game is good! Left me feeLing confused, scared and nightmares?! lol. I seriously can not put anything moRe to words than how good this game is. Been completing this game like whoooo 10 times! still amazing!!

CHARACTER, ACTION, MOVEMENT AND THRILLER! 10/10!!!! ;)

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Graphically amazing, gameplaywise, nothing amazing at all.
This game was good, graphically it is amazing. Beautifuly redered models, ultra realistic. For someone who enjoys graphics, you will LOVE this game. There also seems to be plenty of choice within the game, you choose your character etc.

Sadly, one main and large flaw, the movement. I hated the movement so much I had to turn the game off within 5 minutes of starting. You may think "ooh, I like the game for it's logic and exploring parts" sadly, these are hindered awfully by the pathetic movement of the character. You may think "ah, lots of action". No, the movement makes the action slow. Your character has to stop to change the direction in which he walks, this is irritating, not very realistic and slows the game down. Perhaps this could be excused if the character actually moved round reasonably quickly, sadly this is NOT the case.

Personally I found this pretty irritating, and I really couldn't stick playing the game. Much more of it and I would have burst into tears. The makers of Tomb Raider managed to get the character moving pretty well, and a similar style of movement would suit the game well. Why couldnt Capcom do this?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Resident evil
When resident evil first hit on the playstation back in '98 I was stunned, amazed at the graphics and left speechless at the sound. Needless to say that I was absolutely mesmorised by the latest remake for the gamecube. Although to call it a remake is a little misleading to be honest, I mean don't get me wrong, it's undoubtedly the game I remeber and love but about 70% of this game is new material. They have stripped down the mansion and rearranged all the rooms and added countless new puzzles to the experience. Considering that the last time I played this game was seven years ago it's not suprising that I had forgoten most of it. The storyline thankfully remains intact as the sterotypical haunted house is the perfect backdrop for a game like this. Down to the core mechanics you take your pick out of two characters, Chris Redfield or Jill valentinte. They have some key differences, Jill can hold up to eight items wheras Chris can hold only six. Chris can take more more damage than Jill but she has better defensive weapons, and these tiny variations make a huge impact on the way you play the game. The game's storyline unfolds in numerous and beutifully rendered cut scenes that border on the edge of being cgi quality. The game takes place in the fictional Raccoon city where a series of bisarre murders have been ocurring over the past few months. The victims are apparently eaten. The local police force sends in a specially trained unit of crack commandoes the s.t.a.r.s. (special tactics and rescue squad) to investigate but when the bravo teams helicopter goes missing above the Raccoon forest area the alpha team follow to see what the problem is. upon landing the alha team are ambushed by rabid canines and chased ino a nearby mansion. what ensues are a nightmarish chain of events as the s.t.a.r.s. uncover the fiendish creations of the umbrella corperation. Without spoiling anything more lets just say that its probably one of the best horror themed action games in existence.
