Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great, graphics, great atmoshphere, gameplay cold be improved
The Gamecube has shown is true capabilities in this game in the graphics. At times I wasn't sure if I was playing a game or watching a film! The storyline is also great, and the atmosphere of the original game has not been lost, with the tension of the door opening sequences etc.
Now for the bad points:
- The control system is very hard at times, and moving in a straight line is much harder than it should be
- The zombies are very strong, even on normal mode, and this gets annoying as yo run out of ammo, and the zombies have time to grab you before they die
- You can't drop items: this is extemely annoying because you either have to make your way all the way back to an item box or restore a save
- The limited saves are quite frustrating, especially if you're just near a typewriter and you get killed!
- You can only have a limited number of items (6 with Chris and 8 with Jill) so once again, to pick up items sometimes you have to backtrack to an item box

Despite all this, it's still a great game: great graphics, great atmoosphere, and great story, also it is reasonably long, spanning two discs.
If you liked the Playstation original then buy it, but if you've never plaed the original, think twice.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely Awesome
Introduction
Well whats it all about? Ok. An Elite group S.T.A.R.S bravo team is sent to the Spencer Mansion to investigate strange events that have been going on. A few hours later, Bravo teams chopper goes down and they are lost without a trace... Alpha team is sent to investigate the dissapearance, while they are searching the grounds of the Mansion they are attacked, so they seek refuge in the mansion, where they thought it was safe, and thats where the nightmare/dream ;) begins....

Graphics
If i had to say one thing about the Graphics in Resident Evil, first i would pick my jaw up off the floor, then id tell you that they are the best ive seen in a videogame ever on any system, including PC. The graphics in RE are absolutely stunning to the point which you see in only the most lovingly crafted (yes..crafted) games. Every detail of every room in the mansion is near perfect. The backgrounds are extremely detailed being pre-rendered, but at the same time, are very alive. Chandileirs move, casting proper shadows as they do. Flames dance and lightning flashes, it will take your breath away.

Gameplay
Aaah the gameplay. In my opinion, the gameplay is Resident Evil is among the best in all the games i've played in my gaming life (about 13 years). The style of play is perfectly suited to the game environment. The fact that you cant jump, kick and do other moves of this sort only adds to the enjoyment of the game in my view. The character movement is generally smooth apart from the odd stuck to the wall part and the controls are responsive. One thing that would be good to see though is an analogue aiming system and specific hitboxes on the enemies, although the thrill of letting the shotgun loose on an enemy at close range still has not been surprasses (for me) in any other game that i have played. Overall though, near perfect gameplay with a superb atmosphere, but it is somewhat a matter of personal preference.

Sound
I know this is beginning to sound repetitive (no pun intended :)) but once again the sound is excellent. You'll walk into a room, take a few steps then stop and think 'wait, whats that noise?' and hear footsteps of an unknown foe, its truly terrifying when they speed up and you know theyve spotted you but you still cant see them. The amvience of the game is excellent, windows creak, trees sway in the wind, doors bang and dogs howl, all adding to the already uneasy atmosphere.

Originality
Well its not very original, its a remake and a 3rd person adventure game... but don't judge it on this in the slightest, there are plenty of surpise even for the RE veteran (I completed RE 1,2,3 and Directors cut for PS, got all the Extras and i was still surprised a lot)

Note: Originality does not factor into the overall review score because i dont think a game should be judged badly just because its similiar to others..

Replay Value
There is a high replay factor in the game. There are two scenarios and many things to unlock e.g Rocket Launcher and also when you get these you'll want to test them out on a few monsters amd teach those damn crimsons a lesson ;) So good replay value for the persistant Gamer..

Area Score
Graphics 97
Gameplay 98
Sound 95
Replay 90
Overall 96

Overall
Well how do i sum up such an excellent game? it's hard to do it in a few sentences as even in the full review i havent touched on a fraction of the game. What i will say is that its an absolutely brilliant game and my hat comes off to Capcom for managing to make a remake so good. Superb Graphics, excellent gameplay, atmospheric sound and a high replay value make Resident Evil a game no cube owner should be without. Go and buy this game now!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You would never belive it's a game not a movie
I'd say this is the best game for gamecube at the moment. The first thing you realize when you rent or buy the game is the graphics which are outstanding. The game it self is brilliantly built and all the game play adds to the best game the world has ever seen. All the things and options you have to do and make change the game completly. The best thing about the game is how tense it is and how scary it is. The game is sometimes too scary! All in all I'd say it is a must buy and you would have to get it if you have a gamecube!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Resident Evil Remake on the Nintendo Gamecube
I know a lot of people say that if you own a Gamecude that you have to buy this game, and you know what, they're right.
This is probably the best game out on the GC, and is the only reason I bought one.
Okay its the same mansion, same characters and pretty much the same story, but with dozens of new locations, new enemies to blow into bloody smears on the wall, and new cutscenes that actually make the characters more human and easier to relate to (ie. Jill pucking in the toilet, after her run in with the zombie having fun with his rubber ducky) and make it all the more chilling.
Easy level of difficulty may be too easy, but complete the game on it then go back and try it on normal and hard you'll see that easy lols you into a false sence of security. Also there are tons of extras to unlock apart from just the customary change of clothes, but I won't say what they are because that will just spoil it.
This game is best played in a dark room, with plenty of food nearby, a few changes of underwear handy and all contact from the outside world cut. Once you start this game, you won't be able to stop until its completed.
Afterwards, you won't want to venture out at night without a fully loaded 12-Gauge shotgun or Colt Python .357 Magnum handy.
Just a taster of what to expect from Resi Evil 0 launched next year. Can't wait!
F*****g scarey!!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - who said the originals where better than the remakes
Resident evil on the gamecube is fantastic , so fantastic its hard to put into words! For starters the most obvious thing you will notice about this game is the visuals (graphics) there unbalievable compared to the original and at times are as close as photorealistic as a game can get. The majority of the time it makes X-box look pathetic. Lifespan is a important factor for any game fortunatly Resi Evil has tons of this and is packed full of goodies and extras . Many of the frights and scares you will incouter on this incredible game will be on the behalf of the sounds: Shocking music, moans and groans etc or at times just well timed silence! The high points of this game is the new areas and rooms (not knowing whats behined the corner!). The low points of the game are the puzzles which can lead you to distraction but are fairly logical so they are actually not that bad. This is a amazing gamecube tile and my best by so far, to anyone who is considering to by this game, don't consider just buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
