Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Stunning
This was the first Resident Evil game I decided to bother with - I'm not particularly fond of being scared out of my wits, but having seen screenshots of the game, I just had to see what it looked like in action. Yes, I bought it based on the graphics - as I'm sure many others will have done. Which is wrong, of course - except Resident Evil actually turned out to be quite a sweet little game.

Yes, it looks amazing. The environments are nearly photo-realistic, and the characters and enemies never looked better. Coupled with some haunting sound effects, it's presentation is constantly unsettling. If you like being scared, you'll probably get some kicks out of RE's many shock moments - I know I yelled out on more than one occasion. It's also clever how it tricks you into thinking something's going to happen - for instance, you see a window crack, and expect something horrible to come exploding through... but it doesn't. But it unnerves you no-end. The quality camera-placement throughout makes for some more creepiness, as the action is viewed from behind some leaves, or through a window, by some unknown watcher. It's damn creepy.

Don't listen to people who whine about the controls. Really, they work just fine. Probably the most useful feature is the 180-turn you can pull off by tapping the C-Stick any way - handy for escaping advancing monsters. And full free 3D movement wouldn't work in this game - you'd be running all over the place like some drunk as the camera-angles constantly change... anyone who's played Devil May Cry might know the feeling. As it is, it's sometimes a little clunky, but it works.

The puzzles that make up the biggest part of the game aren't mind-bending, although one or two might have you stumped for a while. What does begin to grate is having to ferry an endless supply of keys from one end of a gigantic mansion to another. Shock moments keep things interesting, but it can get a little tedious from time to time. It's compulsive to keep playing, just to see what lies around the next turn. And although the story isn't too great (I don't suppose it's going to be until the series comes to a close and everything's explained), the cinematics are enjoyable enough and usually give you something else to do other than collect keys.

With two characters to play through and multiple endings, the game has substance for those who look for it. Resident Evil offers a deeply unsettling, but highly enjoyable experience that fans of horror should love. It's so amazingly real, you can't help but feel at least a tinge of fear, even if you're a veteran. As a newbie, I was terrified, but gripped by it's unputdownable nature.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Resident Evil Gamecube
This game which is a revamped version of the original combines amazing graphics with heart pounding moments. With it being a gamecube exclusive tiltle I would say it has the best in game graphics and cinematics that a game can offer and is a must buy for any resident evil fans.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best game on the cube (except for Res 0 of course!)
After I completed this game I wanted to write a review straight away, this game is full of suspense, gore, action, amazing graphics, great storyline, all you could ask for in a game, also it has two disks, so you getting your moneys worth! Also it uses tactics, you can go Jill and have more slots to carry stuff around, or you can go Chris and be a lot stronger than Jill. From start to finish, it's full of mindboggling puzzles, great enemies including zombies, hunters, chimeras, and crimson heads, so many weapons including pistol, self defence gun, shotgun, magnum, grenade launcher, flame thrower, and right at the end a MARK I ROCKET LAUNCHER. It really does take time to complete this game, the best stratergy is to find out what to do then reload your game and do it to save time, as if you do it under 5 hours you'll get a special gun, I won't spoil the surprise. To completye the game ( not including time to work it out ) for my first time was 6 and a half hours. cleary worth the £25 good old Amazon here are offering. But thats not your lot, when you complete it, you get extra costumes and a once again mode. Complete once again mode and get some pretty amazing modes after that, so theres a lot more than 6 hours to get through, and its certainly a game you can play and play again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Must For Zombie Mayhem Lovers!!
This REmake is 100% better than the original PSX version, the graphics are totally amazing, and the Gameplay is the best in any resident evil game i have played to date, The Gamecube puts the PS2 to shame, especially when compared to resident evil code veronica X, the only resident evil on the PS2. You NEED to own this game!! its as simple as that, it has a stylish story, brilliant graphics, much improved voice acting and re styled puzzles and item locations, just wait until you reallise what you can do with common all garden Kerosene.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Resident Evil Horror at it's Very Best!
I am a huge fan of horror movies yet I had never really tried a horror game before. I had never watched Resident Evil on the PSOne but when I saw Resi Cubed I was stunned. The graphics are without a doubt the very best on a game on any console I have ever seen. The camera angles are cleverly tailored to provide the ultimate horror experience. You can't see around corners and you damn sure can't tell when a flesh-eating zombie is about to munch on your neck. The panic when this happens is also a mixed feeling of delight at just how brilliant the game is. Unless you don't have sufficient supplies of pants to change during gaming, this is an absolute necessity. I bought a GameCube just for the Resi series and believe me I am not dissappointed. Buy this.
