I think this is the best game ever made, and the only thing i think that could be better is Halo 2. It has amazing one player campaigns and it has amazing 2 player co-operative campaigns. Besides that it also has amazing split screen multi-player. If you have a X-box you need this game!!!

Rating: - My best experience of the Xbox
OK, I'm really going to try not to be biased. I own a Gamecube and have easy access to a PS2 and I think they're both amazing machines. Not to say the Xbox isn't good as well, I just haven't played it as much. However from the few games I have played, Halo is easily the best, as it's quite simply brilliant.

First and foremost are the graphics, they are some of the best and most technically impressive I've ever seen. Lighting effects, bump-mapping and resolution are all amazing. My favourite part of the graphics has to be the grass, it may be a small part of the game but it just looks so... real. As for gameplay, again it is excellent. Most definitely one of my favourite FPS's. I can't really give a full review of the gameplay because I haven't completed it, only played up to about level 3 on co-op. Co-operative itself is great fun, obviously there's only so much fun you can get from watching someone play, so co-op is probably the best part of the game. Indeed, the part where I had most fun was on the beach. It just feels so cool to have your friend jump into a jeep and you to leap on the back ready to blast anyone that comes near. Another exhilirating part is when you first drive a banshee, giving you a total sense of freedom (despite the invisible walls).

The much acclaimed multiplayer vs. mode I actually found to be a bit of a disappointment. There's no doubting that it's good, but it just doesn't do anything radically different from other FPS multiplayer. As for sound, well from what I can remember it was very good and all very futuristic sounding. The rather cool sounding "Covenant" sounded suitably fierce and the weapon sounds were all pretty good as well. Unfortunately I can't remember the music at all! So I can't really comment on that part of the game.

Overall this really is a fantastic game, probably not enough to make me buy an Xbox, but still great fun. The only major flaw I could find is that I just couldn't find my way around the controls. I'm sorry but my hands simply don't agree with Xbox controllers, even the small ones, and in my opinion FPS's will always be best on GC and PS2 (and obviously PC's). I expect if you own an Xbox then this won't pose a problem to you, but I just can't get around the controller. Still, this is only a small thing that hardly tarnishes an otherwise great game.

Rating: - Totally atmospheric!
March 14 2002.The day I first got to grips with HALO.Its now October 2003 and I'm still playing.Not because I can't complete it(I have,on 3 difficulty settings)but because I find the atmosphere and open structure highly addictive.I also admit that since purchasing a Dolby digital 5.1 set up(creative labs 5700)I have discovered even more atmosphere(controller S helps aswell!).Now being able to acknowledge exactly where enemies are,and changing my tactics for every replay of the game I am rewarded every time with a very immersive game.I would recomend this title to everyone.It's hard to tell people about HALO's merits because it really needs to be experienced,but hopefuly all the glowing reviews the game has gained will influence people to experience one of my favourite games of all time!

This game is so fantastic that even the trailers for it are outstanding. I just bought an Xbox recently along with the game and my PS2 along with my Grand theft auto games are gathering dust in a backroom. I won't go into why this game is the best for a long time since previous people have already commented on it. The Flood absolutly scared me especially in the running battles and the Grunts are loverable with their comedy chatter even though they are trying to kill you.
On the way the work I'm whistling the rousing title music its that good!
